I just turned 40 & found out so late in my life that my actual problem in life has been dyslexia & not just ADD/ADHD. Thanks to the Indian movie 'Taare Zameen Par' which gave me this insight.

My school & childhood days were literally torture. I was convinced that I was a retart since I couldn't focus & do my homework, get good grades.

The self-esteem that was damaged from my childhood has not fully healed yet despite the fact that I graduated from top schools in the world (IIT Bombay, Stanford), made myself a multimillionaire & own lots of property in realty world & internet world :-(

It makes me very sad to see the ignorance of common people & how they badly they have been treating the truly gifted people like Einstein, Edison, Disney who made difference to this world.

I will make myself a billionaire & bring awareness to this gift to all the fortunate & unfortunate (ugly ducklings) ones. I'll also make this world greener & better place for animals too whom we probably never consider equal to humans.

...many hours later....
So, what a blessing to have it all and still be able to see the value.
Then you truly are a rich man...
I hope you do great and adventurous things to help bring an awareness to all. I shudder at the lose of potential for humanity. So sad to see that spirit in our children die or get drugged. I'm forced to believe that they really don't know...or do they?
I hear the need for more is great in some.
Power & control????

Great Quote:
"The great obstacle to discovery is not ignorance, but the illusion of knowledge" (Daniel J. Boorstin, 1983).

It is interesting that you have chosen the Ugly Ducking as your metaphor. You seem to have the swan thing down, while retaining your empathy. Good Job! I see myself as a penguin in the mists of gulls.

Tell me, what in 'Taare Zameen Par' gave you your insight?

Sarah

'Taare Zameen Par' (TZP) is an award winning Indian movie which depicts life of a dyslexic 9 yr old boy who goes through very hard time at school. His teachers, peers, parents fail to understand his problems & label him as 'lazy', 'impatient' & 'not motivated'. As a result, he loses his self-esteem, gets very depressed & hopeless. At the end, there's a teacher (a dyslexic too) who understands this boy's problems & helps him discover his talents. The movie was soooo inspiring for me that I have seen it atleast a dozen times. I could see myself in this movie. After understanding the root of my problem (dyslexia), I went about learning more about this strange disorder. Now, I'm very glad to discover the bright side of this which I was using unknowingly. I now 'see' (visually in my mind's eye) the word 'Dyslexia' as a rough diamond (rare & very expensive) which needs some polishing :-)
