Hi Angela, sounds like you are. Don't be surprised. Thousands have been left undiagnosed or worse, misdiagnosed.
(ADD, ADHD, social anxiety disorders etc...) Boxed, labelled, drugged and forgottened. It's the "Crime of the century" if you ask me.
(fact) Dyslexia is hereditary.
About the map/ directional thing...what works best for me is what I call my omni-directional thingy.(lining up my internal antenna)
I literally envision myself in the map and turn the map to the corresponding real direction (north/south thing).
This just allows all spheres to line up. and I'm not criss-crossing things. Try it out. As far as Left and Right. Well, being an RN this is a very IMPORTANT thing. It must be funny to see but I'm totally interactive, my hands and arms literally flip out (like TA-DA) 2 or three times sometimes just to make sure. Works for me and I don't mind what 'they' think...I just need to be sure. It has NEVER failed me. Actually the physical motion releases some stress as well I sure.
Ray, I love your foot and hand statement. So true... :)
So, Angela...Rest, be still and know you are not alone...
You are not broken... just 'lexicon challenged', my new term. Soooo..to 'them' all DYS THIS.. I say!!!
AND THERE IS NO SHAME IN DYSLEXIA.
It's your gift...use it.
