Chris,
It is wonderful that you want to help the employee his with dyslexia. Unfortunately, your assistance may be backfiring. Your employee may be trying too hard to please you and thus becoming stressed. Stress is very detrimental to a dyslexic. I transpose numbers and found that if I write the number 125, I do a better job with writing 25 and then put the 1 in front.
Your message did not mention if your employee has been tested. My suggestion would be for your employee to be tested by a professional, and then solutions could be suggested.
There many solutions for dyslexia. The fact that all dyslexic are very different in their issues causes a lot of confusion. Sometimes it could be something as simple as the color of the paper or ink. There a lot of computer programs available to help retrain a dyslexic.
You did not say weather you are in the US or UK. If you are in the US, you might want to contact the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (state agency). They might be able to assist with some training for your employee. Also, you could contact:

http://www.iser.com/orton.html
Meanwhile, sit down in a non-stressful atmosphere with him (lunch?) and talk about his issues and the fact you do not want him to be over stressed. Ask him what he feels would help. Also, have some suggestions for computer programs or the DVR available.
Good Luck Alix
