Subject: left channel of stereo died.....?

Hello,

after removing all of the mats and some carpet to clean the interior of my car, my left stereo channel seems to have died. I replaced all the pieces and the stereo worked, but within 5 minutes of driving it went all to the right channel.

with the volume almost totally down, I can hear the signal (music or whatever else is on) in the left speakers. when I turn it up, only the right side works.

fader/balance controls do not affect it. could I have accidentally knocked a wire off the amp? and is it under the passenger seat? any other ideas would be helpful!

my car has (158) Reno, (490) hi-fi sound, (494) amplifier system options.
