Ever had a Hair and Makeup Session Go Bad? Go here and see who not to go to. -- Dana, 10:31:52 08/24/04 Tue

This is what happened to me at Ultimate Queen and some interesting information on Petite Universal.

Want to see what a bad Pageant Hair and Makeup job looks like go to the link I have enclosed and see who not to use for Hair and Makeup. He charged me $300 and I ended up with a white face when I am dark completed. He tried to tell me that you use two shades lighter for stage makeup, I thought I had always been told differently but I trusted this man. I figured it up on my score sheet and I lost a total of 51 points alone on just my facial beauty. The judges took off 3-4 points per judge on facial beauty alone. The score sheet is on the site. You also might find out what really happened at Ultimate in Indiana. Might be some interesting information on Petite Universal coming up in August that might make you change your mind about attending. Such as playing favoritism, contestants babysitting SH daughter. Many more things happened also and I believe it is time everyone was warned about my opinion on how good of a show that she can put on, but when it comes down to it she shows her true colors. The pictures alone speak for themselves on what a poor job that Charlie Boyd done to me. Not including the threating emails I received from the SH after me confronting CB about the poor job he done on me .I a know that I was the only person that come out looking like a zombie after all the girls he done. I will enclose more pictures on my website showing that not all the girls he done did not look like my makeup job. I personally think they have something working together. The ladies that won all age groups either new one of the judges which one of them was only 18 or was babysitting SH child or SH had won one of the girls that competed and won. It was more of a pageant for her friends. They were in a clique and you didn’t have a chance if you weren’t in that clique. Check it out and see what you think. Also I am not going to be competing any longer so if anyone needs anything pageant clothing, shoes, jewelry. I have a brand new gown that has been wore once Ultimate, a yellow bathing suit,a red interview suit to die for, shoes, all kinds of pageant stuff. I have seen this everywhere! And to be honest, you did not have that much to work with before the H/M artist began. It is like parents complaining about photogenic pictures when their child is not that cute to begin with. They can all do so much!! Quit trying to be so vindictive about this situation. You learned your lesson and move on!

Honey I have won more pageants then most people so don't tell me he didn't have nothing to work with. Seems funny that I never had this problem until I encountered SH and CB so that seems to have been my problem. Don't be a hater.

Maybe you are right. I will just let the Better Business Bureau take care of it. I am not trying to be vindictive just trying to save someone else from the horror I went through. If it was you or your daughter you would be doing the same thing. It wasn't just a fluke this happened, the other girls he done H&M for didn't look like a ghost. And for everyone comments about not having nothing to work with then why have I won the last 12 pageants I have done until Charlie Boyd got his hands on me. I might need to take it as a compliment, maybe some of the girls in that "click" felt intimadated and needed that edge. I go against any of them again in a differnt system and I can guarantee things would have not turned out the same way. I guess pageants up north aren't what they say they are. They are all ran by people that have no idea what they are doing and they get all their friends to enter and to judge when that judge can be found. So I guess I will just stay down south where at least the pageants aren't rigged with contestants talking to the judges and babysitting the directors child. Seems funny that I am the only one that can post her name so who seems to be hiding something....????HMMMMM?

You were bound to lose sometime. Get over it already!! It would have happened eventually in the North, South, East or West. Who cares who babysits whom? If it is a honest director, it will not matter, because she will have nothing to do with the judge's decision!! You seem to be more upset that you lost, and need to find a reason, a justification as to why. It might not have been your day. MOVE ON! Or get help! One or the other. And, no, if it happened to me or my daughters, I would never take it to the pageant boards. I would deal with it myself.

Maybe YOU allow contestants to BABYSIT your kids, but to COMPETENT people that justifies that CHEATING happens! You just told on yourself! "horrible H&M session" on the message boards, everyone will now know how juvenile and truely petty this girl is! I mean, come on... who really cares that she has won the last 12 pageants she has been in? She still sounds like a sore loser to me! I wonder if her mother knows that she talks like that on these boards. Grow up sweetie! Or hell, at least try to make school your main concern... and not pageants, it sounds like you might need an education than a crown!

Is anyone going and how is it...should we rough the hurricane and go?
i hear it is a great pageant. we have never done it but hope to get some suggestions and/or feedback!
We hear they are still having it...we hope anyhow.

Do not bother with Coed or National American Miss unless you intend to buy your child the crown. There are many credible childrens pageant. Avoid it like the plague!!!!!

Seems Ultimate Queen which has been the middle of conversation here lately has the same winner as Petite Universal. Coincidence............NOT! The winner must have done some real babysitting this time. It seems the news that has been going around has turned out to be true. Seems SH does run a pageant for her friends.

Dana isn't jealous over anyone espically some one that wins one of the most ghetto pageants I have entered. If they want to see them young girls in the pageant wear a bathing suit that is hardly appropiate for even my age then that is fine. Just about like the pajama party at Ultimate. No one told anyone that her husband would be at this pajama party with his little comment as "I hope no one shows up in a nightie", not including him taking his shirt off and only have a muscle shirt on with pre-teens present I hardly find that appropiate. I guess that's how they do it in her pageant system but I would never recommend it to no one nor would I ever affilate myself with that low class pageant again. Seemed the more skin you showed the better. Well sorry folks this LADY doesn't show off everything she has where it's hanging or bulging out of my clothes. About being psyco, maybe I am and Sara just picked the wrong person to do wrong. But I am fighting for a cause and that is what I will continue to do. I will make sure that I will reach every girl or woman that is interested in entering them pageants aware of what goes on in the "clique"!

I sat in and watched the pageants at the Mall of Georgia this weekend. What a CROCK!!!! This pageant has got to be rigged. There were absolute standouts in each pageant that didn't even place. What is going on? I thought that the MAO didn't run dishonest pageants. Lots of folks I talked to that were watching were as dumbfounded as I was. I'm glad my dd wasn't in it!!! I'd be really pissed!

Hey, I was at the mall this weekend too! I only saw the last two age groups. I agree that they passed over some standouts. One of the girls who placed in the last age group was overweight and the one who won had no figure at all. I agree-it was probably "rigged". Too bad.

I am not proclaiming that all pageant moms are abusive or that all pageant children are abused. I am claiming that child beauty pageants create an atomsphere in which child abuse can breed like mold on stale bread. If you are not moldy, then kool. If the shoe fits wear it.

One just has to walk through a few pageant boards to get a sense of the abuse. Look at all the bitchy and vile things you pageant moms say to each other. If the moms are acting like this to each other think of how they act with their kids. If their kid's winning is so important to these moms that they will publicly scratch the eyes of another mom, think of the physical and mental preasures they bring down on their DDs.

Shall we get into the abuse of transforming a child into a public sexual object? Never mind. Most child beauty pageant moms are addicted to pageants like street whores are addicted to Crack. There is little hope they will kick their habits. The only hope these little kids is the proposed pageant laws.

Another mother of an ugly duckling speaks out. Oh Please Lady. take your charity elsewhere like to the home of a child being beaten and starved to death. I just bet they would love the abuse we put our kids through like the $3000 dresses, spending time with them at pageants, dressing up, playing with friends, being the center of attention. You are insulting the poor children of the world who are really abused by posting this nonsense. I am not saying their can't be parents involved that are abusive but, that my dear has to do with the parents NOT pageantry. You can find abuse anywhere you look. I am sure you mean well but you sound like a jealous mommy. Maybe you weren't allowed to do pageants as a child or your child wouldn't do well in them but I can assure you pageant kids are some of the most loved children in the world. People may bicker on the boards but, you want to see parents who loove there children go to a pageant. I also want to add pageant mothers can be the most protective parents you will ever meet not just to their own but all children. We watch over all the kids at pageants so they can play safely. You bring this crap to a pageant and we will see who gets their eyes scratched out the fastest. I dare you!

I would like to point out that child abuse comes in more forms than just being beaten and starved. It is a fact that many children suffer emotional abuse, poor self esteem, and fear of failure when parents expect perfection, and idealize beauty and talent, and being hte most beautiful means everything. I'm in no way bashing pagents, in fact my daughter is a title holder herself. I just want people to realize that it is easy to get carried away in the pageant world. Come on, we've all seen some parents ridiculing, and berating children to the point of it being down right wrong! That is where the problem is, not with the parents who keep it all in perspective and help their child live up to their own potential

Look, the child has to practice to get the "walk" correct. They must know how to turn, eye contact, etc.

They must have the proper "uniform" for all categories.

It is a competition.

There is no difference between competing in a pageant or competing at a softball tournament. We were at a softball tournament with 7-10 year old girls. There were parents yelling, cussing, and talking really bad about children and their parents.

So, this must be just an unhappy mother who just does not like the sport of pageantry. Fine...get into underwater basket weaving, or pottery.

EXCUSE ME? Being middle class/poor and not going to college makes a person have a low IQ?? Just where did you read that garbage? I happen to have a genius IQ and I chose NOT to go to college. I'm middle class, but we're comfortable, even though I'm "Suzy Homemaker". My daughter is involved in pageants because it teaches her GOOD self-esteem and social skills. As for it being to bolster my own confidence, I happen to be a fairly beautiful woman, not drop-dead gorgeous, but still beautiful. There may be mothers out there like that, but we aren't ALL like that. It's not abuse for us...I don't berate my child for not wanting to do something, and I don't make her feel like a "loser" if she doesn't win...that would undermine how pageants teach her self-confidence. We're in it for the fun, so it doesn't matter if she wins or loses. It may be that way for some mothers, but not all of us.

No, we don't do glitz pageants, but what does that have to do with anything? I know just how much they cost, I know what goes into them, the money, the coaching, the custom dresses, the fact that some mothers use flippers, falls, minis, etc.. Yes, we do compete locally, but the pageants that we do are far from nothing pageants, they're generally charity pageants, like for Cystic Fibrosis and such. And no, I'm not new to the pageant world. I competed myself, won on different levels. I've worked in the fields of modeling and photography, so I know what a person can and will spend on photography, coaching, etc. Claiming that I don't have a clue just because I choose not to do glitz is arrogant. That is my personal choice and it is rather unkind of you to criticize me for that. You don't know me.

I am a college student, and my daughter does pageant and my husband made $98,000 last year...so we arent' poor, I'm not uneducated so there goes your theory all to hell....your obesession is really frightening though....you need to move on...find a hobby. buy a dog, or a girlfriend.

I have to wonder at your anger and hostility. Where does so much hate come from? No, as a matter of fact, my IQ was not rated by some "scratch-off", as you so eloquently put it. It was tested by the MENSA Society. I do not live in a doublewide,(although there is nothing shameful in that. Are you a snob, or are you mad because you do live in a doublewide and are unhappy about it?) but in a beautiful brick home that is bought and paid for. Our daughters have lovely rooms, as do our sons, with a generous expanse of space to sleep, play, and study in. I do not spend my days placing stones on dresses, I have more worthwhile activities with which to pass my time. I did state that we were comfortable. My husband owns his own business and I am a writer. My children are involved in other activities, but since they are under the age of 7, their options are sadly limited. However, they are involved with their youth groups at church where they have helped organize clothing and food drives; they participate in "Toys for Tots" every year; they collect money for charitable organizations, such as the "Make A Wish" foundation, and for research foundations, such as those for Cystic Fibrosis, Breast Cancer, and MS. Every year after their birthdays and Christmas, they go through their toys and donate their old toys to charity. (They are only allowed to donate toys that are in excellent condition, not anything that is better off in the trash.) They are also involved in sports, such as soccer, baseball, gymnastics, dance, etc.. They are involved in their school organizations. Sometimes they also attend our committee meetings, as well. We can provide our children with anything they desire, however, we refuse to allow them to become spoiled, selfish little brats who care for nothing but themselves and exect everything to be handed to them. We expect them to be grateful for what they have the good fortune of having, and to not look down upon others who are less fortunate.

Perhaps I should have classified myself as upper-middle class? I have to wonder what socio-economic class you fall into, that you would think that there is a blight on those of the middle class? A person should be proud of what they have, especially if they worked hard for it. We didn't use credit cards to gain what we have, we aren't in debt up to our ears because of what we have, and we refuse to become slaves to the "almighty dollar". We actually own what we have, it is all ours. There are no payments to worry about lapsing, nothing that wasn't saved for. I believe that those are things to be proud of. Only a person who hasn't worked a day in their life for anything, who has had things handed to them all their life, or someone who is middle to low-income and not happy with their life and bitter about their circumstances would sneer at someone being proud of what they have, even if that is upper-middle class. Your comment makes me wonder just exactly where you fall.

As I just stated, our daughter does have other worthwhile involvements in her life, and should she decide that she no longer wishes to participate in pageants, that would be quite fine with me. There would be no bitterness, because our daughter's worth lie within HERSELF. Not in some crown that will do nothing more significant than sit on a shelf somewhere, gathering dust. Our daughter participates in pageants because she enjoys it, and that is more worthwhile than anything else...doing something that she enjoys, be it a pageant, or a pirouette, or visiting a sick child in the hospital. That is what makes anything that they do worthwhile.

As for your remarks pertaining to my intelligence and my beauty...well, I'm not the one who misspelled words in my post. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I am quite satisfied with my petite frame, I do not need plastic surgery to remove or add anything to my body, I do not dye my hair. I am not drop-dead gorgeous, as I stated before, but I have also participated in pageants on different levels, I did modeling, and I have worked in photography, so yes, I do believe that I can be classified as a beautiful woman. I cannot understand why you have so much venom and hate residing within you that you would personally attack me. I find your comments rude, uncouth, and positively boorish. Parade my child through Burger King? Please, you actually EAT there??

Do I think that I have actually won something?? Why, yes, I have. That shine of joy in my daughter's eyes, that radiance that emanates from her face, the lighthearted laughter that resonates from her when she's playing with the other girls...THAT is what I have won....the joy of seeing my daughter do something that she loves and wants to do. Watching her grow into a poised young lady, instead of just another girl, well, that is worth more than anything else in the world.

You poor thing. It must have been hard on you when you were younger and did not think you looked good enough. Pageants are NOT about beauty. During the "beauty" competition they are judged on their poise, modeling and comfort on stage if they look beautiful that is not a mark against them. It does help with self esteam and getting use to being the focus of attention/speaking/performing in front of a group. How many times has a child (even in high school) stood to give a report and kept saying "um..um" and stairing at the ground trying to read the few little bits they wrote on a piece of paper? Yeah, those kids were neglected by their parents for giving them low self esteam and not helping coach them along the way. Those kids will have to either learn in college or flip burgers.

I am a Middle Class Mom of 3 and my children are all into something...My boys, Sports/Band, etc. and My Daughter is does Cheerleading and Dance, Plus LOVES her Pageants!! I am not Rich by far, but to give to my children & see them Happy at something they LOVE to do is MY Pleasure in Life!! I was not some snooty upper-class Bitch growing up, but whatever I wanted most of the time I had, and my Parents made sure of this. There is nothing wrong with spending Money that we make on something Our Kids LOVE!! It doesn't have to be some Low-Income Parent or someone who had no self esteem growing up to put their child in Beauty Pageants! Where is Your Degree that gives you the right to say these things??? Just because someone doesn't have a million dollars and didn't go to College, Does NOT make them Poverty Stricken, and surely doesn't make them low income or low self-esteemed, so therefore, they have to stick their Kid into a Beauty Pageant to make up for their "Aweful Lives" as a child... Get a Grip on your Hate, and go tell it to someone that cares what you think, because obviously NO ONE here does!!!

Yes believe it or not pageant are about INNER beauty as well as out! I have saw some GORGEOUS girls lose because they lacked poise or enthusiasm, or couldn't interview well. So it does trakes more than a good face to win! Pageant have helped me build confidence. I am still a but shy at public speaking, but by competiting in pageants, I have gotten more comfortable speaking in front of an audience.

yOU are making me laugh-Pageants are abuse? You have got to be kidding me!! I don't see any Pageant coaches working these kids to the point of them dropping dead from exhaustion...as like, in Football practice, which has happened many, many times. I don't see any Pageant Mom's whipping up on each other on the stage...as like, in baseball games, which has happened many, many times.If you get the stats on injuries in Football, Baseball, Soccer, Track, etc. they will far exceed the injuries in Pageants.Some of these Sports people are spending more money on drugs,steriods and Lawyers than you spend all year on Pageants. Dressing up pretty is not child abuse...don't say that these Pageant kids are "bareing too much" because I see kids everywhere on the streets bareing more than I would allow EVEN at a Pageant. And then the makeup...I can't keep my kid out of it, she loves playing dress up. Guess she has an imagination and I love it!!! If you are looking to represent abused children I support that, but you need to go after parents who leave babies in locked cars or parents who leave children alone for days or parents who are locking children in a basement, or, or........REAL CHILD ABUSE!!

The woman in Tifton, Georgia is the main problem.

I would not let my children around her (and they are grown teenagers and can handle their own) if my life depended on it. She is like a hurrican, destruying everything in her path that conflicts with her interests. She is one of those people who did not have friends in high school and is now trying to control everyone's emotions and thoughts and decisions. Her day is coming though. Soon. We hope.

I am all for changing the way pageants are run and who is directing them. I agree that some people are just not cut out for the job of director. Such as my exprience with Ultimte Queen and SH directing it. She had no idea she had judges back out hours before the interview started so she had to come up with judges from where ever she could. It was sad. One of them was only 18 and she might be qualified to judge but not on a National Level. I am 11 years older then this judge and when she asked me in interview where I saw myself in 5 years I thought "oh my gosh, I have already been what she is going though and back, why does she think she had the right to ask me that when she had no clue about what life is really about. It was a sad situation. Then see 2 or 3 girls walk out talking to this judge when we were given a list of rules that clearly stated that we weren't to approach or talk to the judges that they would be available after the pageant to talk to. Not after each event. There was so many things that happened at that pageant that went against the own directors rules and when she was confronted by another mom (which I was a contestant) she said it was no big deal that they "knew each other". So what, it didn't state in the rules that the ones that knew the judges were free to talk to them anytime they saw fit. It was just unacceptable. I am trying to get affilated with the new pageant board they are trying to get into affect, that way all pageants are regulated. Something has to be done or the pageant world will only get worse.

She does do some coahching and she does a great job. Her son had held several titles. She also does some hair and makeup.

She is Parkers mom but she also have a niece that she coached and others that she coaches. I know several girls that she has coached.

Is she Parker's mom? She is a nice lady! It just seems everybody and there mother think they are coaches but, If this is the same person she has been around enough to know what's what in pageantry but, I am a little concernec that she has only seen her child coached and he is a boy.

She was a Sunburst International Titleholder and was on Mickey Mouse Club. She is now on the hit show Northshore sporting a great new blonde hairdo. She is a main character named MJ on the show. Pretty Cool!

causing the pageant abuse in our state. She is over what used to be a large and prestigious system. Now, she has lowered herself to do things that are terrible and against the law. She speaks bad about children, even worse about their parents and will stop at NOTHING to hurt others who try to be successful in any form of pageantry. THIS IS A FORM OF PAGEANT ABUSE!!
