The problem you are experiencing is called halyard wrap. The usual cause is the angle of the halyard where it exits the mast. It should lie at an angle of 15 degrees to the foil. If it is parallel to the foil there is no sideways pressure being exerted on the foil, therefore it tries to wrap around. I think the Plastimo can be fitted with a deflector that angles the halyard away from parallel ( it looks abit like a top hat. The other way of overcoming the problem is to fit a halyard guide to the front of the mast. This is fitted below where the halyard comes out of the mast (or below the halyard block if external) This takes the halyard down and then out at a slight angle.
Although Plastimo, I think if you go to the Selden website you will find a diagram that explains it.
