Ive rebuilt a couple of DV10's and DV20's and it sounds like you have a blown head gasket, but I think you already know that.

How to check a Bukh DV10? I'm not too sure. You could try a compression test and how you carry that out Im not too sure either, but as you say it starts easily, you probably have good compression and the head gasket has probably mostly blown between the tappet tubes and the water jacket.

Im fairly sure the only way to find out is a head off job, its not too bad'r job on the single cylinder Bukh and you might as well give it a decoke and make sure your injection bend etc is all clear at the same time.

Check the head and block faces for flatness, with a straight edge.

Regards

Steve
