Hi,
Just came across your site and thought I would share with you all a fixthat my family made for weather helm on our seamaster 23.
The problem actually stems from the leading edge of the blade, a balanced rudder should follow the line of the stock, however on the 23 it drops vertically after about 6". This, in conjunction with with trailing edge of the blade protruding aft a fair way induces very bad weather helm. To counteract you need to remodel the rudder so that the blade's leading edge follows the line of the stock (pin) and re-shape the trailing edge to follow the same line. I can email a sketch to anyone who requires it. Its been a while since we sold our boat (10 years) so I dont have specific drawings, please keep this in mind! contact me at mattwardle@mac.com
