Our Sailer 29 has Raymarine transducer in same position, just ahead of the keel, and it works fine. It is just stuck to the GRP pad with silicone sealant. It replaced a Navico which also workled fine but the display went US.

We also have an el cheapo NASA target at the stern. I guess that it is at about 20 years old and still works.
