Ive sailed mine in around 25knots of wind under full jib/main sails, single handedly and she performed lovely, she was going well shall we say pushing over 7knots over the ground. Perhaps she needed reefing down in reality but I enjoyed it..

Perhaps the main sheet track or the kicker needed adjustment on your trial?

Did you buy the boat? My 815 "Honeyfly" is my first family cruiser, Ive had sportsboats (cork 1720) before I bought her back in 2007. Cork 1720's arent that family friendly for young children, but the 815 is a perfect very stable cruiser with a good respectable speed too. Im happy with mine.
