Hi Ian,

Would I be right in guessing you have the old positive earth system? I recently had the old pos. earth alternator on my Aston Seamaster 30 changed to a neg. earth one when it failed. That had a device identical to the one you describe and it was explained to me that it was a regulator which was needed for the old alternator, but the new neg. earth ones had it built in. The old redundant regulator was duly removed. If as it seems you have the old pos. earth system, I would be inclined to check whether the new split charge kit is compatible, or do you need to convert to neg. earth.

Regards, Steve
