Hi We are very new members to the Seamaster club and already we need assistance! We have a Seamaster Commodore 28 and have recently discovered a dodgy starter motor.

This we found to be in a really awkward place and had to loosen off two bolts holding the engine in place to free it from the bottom. There the task ended - for now at any rate as we could not remove it. There appears to be some sort of spring thing on the end. This is preventing the shaft from being removed - so now we are stuck!

First Q - how on earth do you get it off without mutilating hands and other crucial parts (of the boat that is)!? We thought we may need some sort of spring compressor, but where does one get such a thing?

We await a knight in shining armour - or whoever might be able to shed light on the problem.

Very best regards
Jan & Haydn (Grt Ouse)
