Hi Simon.

This part of the mast I presume is some kind of casting?, if it is possible to remove it from the mast easily , then I am sure that a local machine shop could fashion a replica for you from an aluminium marine grade alloy material. the original manufacturers nameplate is usually rivetted towards the base of the mast on the forward side. for a part no of the mast and then maybe they may have a spare part you could purchase from them or an agent. Another alternative would be to have a new taller tabernacle made from mild steel and galvanised which would replace the existing deck mounting platform channel., the hinge pin would then be higher up the mast, say 12 inches, this would make stepping easier too. I f you look at the current Seamaster Lives magazine , there are photo's of a 23s in Holland or so which uses this system.

Hope this helps, cheers

assistant sailing sect coordinator
