Hi all, My father is a member if the Club, but unfortunatley not into computers so I am posting up here for him.

We have a problem with our Seamaster 27 and overheating.

A little background ot the engine first.

Its a 1500 BMC Newage Diesel that has had the injectors & rail replaced about 6 years ago but other than that just been regularly maintained. It's a keel cooler though, not raw water cooled.

We had a burst hot water cylinder about 3 years ago (about 2 1/2' long) and we replaced it with a 1m long stainless steel tank. It holds the same domestic water volume but is shorter & fatter that the one we took out. The old tank had a 25mm copper pipe in & out of both ends that enlarged to 2" inside the tank. When we realised this (cut the old tank up to dispose of it) we increased the coolong water quantity to compensate (by adding lengths of Stainless Steel tube).

Ever since we replaced the water tank the engine temprature has been very "sensitive". it will cruise at just below the speed limit on the Thames at 90^C water temp but as soon as you give it some more throttle the temp just rises & rises - a short blast (5 -7 mins) today saw the temp reach nearly 100^C !!

Has anyone any suggestions or things to try to find out why it is bad? It never used to be like this!
