I dont have any direct experience of HK sails. I did get a quote a few years ago for a jib but comparing like with like they were no cheaper than some UK sailmakers and less choice. Looking at their site a few days ago it does seem that the price difference has now gone in HK sails favour. although I think that most UK sailmakers will include more extras. These may not inteest you.

I recently replaced the main on Sea Holly. I was generally quoted 6.3 or 6.5 oz for a Seamaster 29 main, which is about 145 square foot. The main on the 23 is quoted as 110 square foot so I would think 5 oz is a bit light, but it does depend what sort of sailing you do. I think that I would go for nearer 6 oz.

I did notice on the HK sails site that their recomendations for sails were a bit lighter than I would go for eg just one reef for "weekend sailing". They never not been weekend sailing in Sea Holly!
