The boat has been on a mud berth for a 9 month period whilst sorting out engine problems. Recently discovered whilst setting off from Swansea to Waterford, that keel will not lower. Checked the pulleys & freed one that had rusted shut. Still no joy. Opened the inspection plug. Took a stout steel rod & used 3lb club hammer to persuade it to go down. Lots & lots of hammering. No joy. 2 months later is still stuck. Have tried putting a bottle of bleach to kill marine growth. Now reduced to either lifting out or beaching & trying that appraoch. Any one had similar experience? The keel was replaced about 4 years ago with a new galvanised one.
