I have the same problem on my drying mooring on the River Crouch, Essex. The only solution is boat out, in a hoist, and old industrial (1cm) hacksaw blade to work the mud free. A hose pipe helps wash away the mud. However, I have found a small stone about 2cm diameter can get wedged in at the cable end of the slot, thus jamming the plate. Happened this and last season.
Hope this helps
