Ophelia C. MARS was born on March 4, 1841 in Neshoba Co., MS and died between 1910 & 1920. She married William Rueben Bethany on March 27, 1857 in Clarke Co., AL. He was born in 1831 in Perry Co., AL and died in 1872 in Kemper Co., MS. They had 8 children:

1) Martha Jane Bethany, born Nov 11, 1857 and died Jan 29, 1951 in Kemper Co., MS. She married Jesse Wilson Murray on Feb 20, 1876. He was born Nov 7, 1853 and died March 12, 1921 Kemper Co., MS.

2) Nancy Bethany, born in 1859 in MS and died before 1870.

3) Elizabeth Frances Bethany(my maternal great-grandmother), born Feb 28, 1861 in DeKalb, Kemper Co., MS and died Oct 26, 1936 in Electric Mills, Kemper Co., MS. She married George Henry Clay Hopper on Nov 7, 1882 in DeKalb, MS. He was born Apr 19, 1852 in Sumter Co., AL and died Aug 4, 1935 in DeKalb, Kemper Co., MS.

4) Seraptha Bethany, born Dec 9, 1862 in Kemper Co., MS and died Jan 14, 1958 in Simpson Co., MS. She married James D. Murray. He was born on Oct 22, 1861 and died Feb 14, 1925.

5) Lucy A. Bethany, born Dec, 1864 in Kemper Co., MS. She married Robert Murray, Sr. He was born March, 1864 in MS.

6) Luda Bethany, born in 1867 in Kemper Co., MS.

7) Sylvester V. Bethany, born Feb, 1870 in MS. He married Florence Jane Adams. She was born Sept, 1874 in MS.

8) William Thomas Bethany, born Sept, 1871 in Kemper Co., MS and died Sept 6, 1938 in Hartselle, Morgan Co., AL. He married Susan Anne Ridout on Dec 25, 1892. She was born March 20, 1874 in MS and died Feb 20, 1958.

My great-grandparents (Elizabeth Frances Bethany and George Henry Clay Hopper) had 10 children. My materal grandmother was Pearl Phyllis Hopper born Feb 26, 1899. She was their 9th child. She married Chris Muir and they had 3 children. My mother is Desima Dean Muir who married Ernest R. Willeford.
