Subject: IGT slot will not start up. I have a IGT 5 x slot wild cherry 1984 model. When I turn it on, all the lights come on, the wheels will not start turning, and no numbers come up on on the front display. The coins just fall through. I have changed the infrared door contacts and it still dose the same thing. Can anybody give me any suggestions? First thing to check (with the power on) is to open the door and move the reels. If they move freely they are not getting any signal to the stepper motors. My prediction is that they freely move. Next turn the machine off - pull the hopper out. In the back you should have a large black knob - this is the MPU tray. Lift straight up and then out pull out. Simply replace the board back and make sure it is pressed down well and seated. When you turn the power back on you should get the stiff reels and numbers and such on your display. The wheels are not moving freely. My MPU is on the top of my machine. There is an Aluminum box on top. The front opens up and I have two circuit boards in there laying horizontal. I pulled them out, amd pushed them back in firmly. I still do not get any numbers coming up on the front display and the wheels do not turn. By the way, I goofed on the name of my slot machine. If the numbers did display at some time , it probly the battery thats gone flat. If its a RAM-BATTERY combo ( Lithium ) , you'l need to replace with the same kind. or install a 3.6V NiCd battery and change the jumpers so that you can measure 3V on the RAM chip. Also install a 1K Ohm resistor and 1N4148 diode from the 5V line to the battery , with the cathode of the diode to the positive pole of the bettery. Note : Record the position of your jumpers , only one jumper needs to be changed for the voltage to be present on the RAM chip ( legs # 26 & 13 ). If no success , contact me again... Goodluck...
