I also have a Bally Pro 5500 slot (California Dreamin'), with an 83F error code. I installed the ram clear chips U12 & U15 turned the power on, while holding the pseudo button in, released it and all I get are 9's in the display windows (credits, coins in and win windows) The whole display just flashes on and off with all 9'showing at once. any clues? I have....cross that....had... a working machine and tried to change the board from it to the California Dreamin' but using the chips(U67, U68, U18, U20, U3, U4, and the U12 & U15) from the California Dreamin' slot....did the ram clear thing, that didn't work. I tried the board from the California Dreamin' slot, but put the chips in from the other machine and installed it the other machine, did the ram clear with the ram clear chips, and the same thing happens, all 9's. Now I have the same problem on both machines. Any clue as to what I am doing wrong? Any pointers would sure be appreciated. Thank you.

Are you sure your RESET chips are OK ?

Are they on 27(c)512 chips (EPROM's) ?

Is your battery ok ?

Have you done a successful RESET with your chips set ?

Battery is ok. I found out that the reset chips are not needed, and don't work in this model. All that was needed, was to move the J10 jumper and do the ram clear with the test and pseduo buttons and replace the J10 jumper.
Now I have another problem....error 41 Improper reel spin.
The first play after power up works fine. On the second play, the 41 error comes up, and I don't know how to clear it. Any ideas?
Regards,
Jerry

Jerry check reel no 1 for a loose wire then do a complete clear again with J10 and holding the test and pseudo buttons turn machine on hold buttons in till you get a CL C then turn machine off and change jumper C >Battery is ok. I found out that the reset chips are

Any suggestions on how to change the horizontal display size on a bally game maker fitted with a tatung monitor. the horizontal size preset on the monitor does not respond at all. I have 3 machines with an identical problem of a stretched image. Are there any settings on the MPU board for screen size.

The Problem is in the monitor. Remove the monitor from the game and remove the black cover from the back of the monitor. Carefully remove the neck board from the crt. Remove the 3 screws to remove the chassie. Beside the FBT you will find a 4.7 MFD 50 Volt NP cap. this needs to be replace and will restore HORZ. WITH CONTROL at the monitor. GOOD LUCK
