Subject: I wasn't crazy about Mac going into civilian law, but the storyline with Harm and Bud was good so I'll average it to about a 4. The end scene was definitely a telling moment..inside.

Since we weren't getting H&M, Bud and Harriet at least gave us a stable couple. They were cute and fun in their own way and did give a glimpse, if H&M had been looking more effectively, that a relationship within the military was possible. Besides, Harriet was a good office manager.

Mac was flattered. That was the only plausable explaination that I can come up with for her not reacting negatively to that blatant sexual reference during the interview. Once again, Mac was having her own self-esteem issues and the offer and the attention were validating her self-worth at the time.

Mac was momentarily dazzled by what Dalton and his firm offered. Dalton in a lot of ways was manipulating the situation to have Mac to himself and away from the competition (Harm) - even if the competiton hadn't clued in on his feelings yet...everyone always said that they could see the connection between H&M, even when they couldn't. Mac soon learned that she really wasn't being taken seriously as a lawyer and that she had made a huge mistake in leaving JAG...in People v. Rabb. I'm not sure Mac was running away from Harm at this point..I'm not sure she was any more sure of her feelings for him than he was for her...they both were still just beginning to realize that there indeed was "a thing" between them.

AJ always tried to do what he thought was best for his people. Although angered by her decision, I think he knew it might not last...hence the non processing of her terminal leave papers ...and that she needed to find herself. If leaving, even briefly was what it took, he was willing to give her the space. Harm respected Mac and her abilities...he didn't feel that he had the right to tell her to stay, so even though he would rather have her at JAG, he too gave her the space she needed to make her own decisions.

This is when we as the audience get a glimpse of how they really feel about each other. Mac wanted a relationship with Harm and he with her, but both were still reserved about all those "complications" that would rise if they started getting serious.

Harm was sad, no doubt, he liked working with Mac and he hadn't had the chance yet to explore what might be with Mac really. Of course there were the pangs of jealousy, as he had with any male that was "on Mac's scent".
