Subject: Yeah - this was a gooder - I'll give it a 4.5. I haven't read the other comments yet so forgive me if I'm repeating here. 1) Ummm... I have to go out on a limb on this one and say NO!!! NO, no, no, no! LOL I really don't think the Bud/Harriett thing enhanced the show at all (sadly). In fact, I think it hurt it (inside).
In reply to: Araninda 's message, "Episode of the Week – Impact" on 01:09:48 07/25/08 Fri

I think it unfortunately took away alot of credibility from the show and people who might have otherwised enjoyed the serious, court-room/military drama, may have tuned in only to catch a "Bud/Harriett shlocky moment" and never tuned in again b/c they thought that's what the show was like. I don't mean to be too harsh on the actors - I thought PL was brilliant before he was with Harriet (and he had his moments after they were together too), and I think KT is great - just them together were very... irritating and gave the show a whole "Little House on the Prairie" feel during their "moments" that really didn't fit in with the rest of the show. Personally I feel that DPB used B&H as another excuse to stick it to the fans - I always got the feeling that he was thinking "You want romance - here's romance - don't say I never gave you nothin'!" And then gave us a caricature of romance done to a the sickening, enth degree - just to be a complete ass. I also thought he used the vehicle of Harriet to once again portray his attitude toward women. I hated the way he made Harriet so controlling over Bud in a very, innocent, pretending to let Bud come to his own decision but it was really what she wanted, kinda way.
But of course... that's just my opinion! LOL

2)Hmmm... well, that's a tough one. Again, I know some people may disagree with me here, but speaking as a female who works in a very male dominant workplace, I have to once again quote The West Wing. I think the character of Ainsley Hayes summed it up very well when Sam was accused by another staffer of demeaning Ainsley when he commented that she "could make a good dog break his leash." (b/c she was all dressed up nice). The staffer couldn't believe that Ainsley wasn't offended by this comment, saying "I'm surprised you would let your sexuality diminish your power." To which Ainsley replies "I like it when the guys tease me. It's an inadvertent show of respect that I'm on the team and I don't mind it when it gets sexual. And you know why? I like sex.... I don't think that whatever sexuality I may have diminishes my power. I think it enhances it". LOL - I always loved that line. I think there's a fine line with sexual comments - you have to look at the context of who's saying it and why. If the comment was meant to demean you, then yes - be offended. But if the comment was only meant in fun, or a guy's way of letting you know he thinks you're sexy, then there's no harm in that at all - in fact, sometimes it's just meant to be a compliment. That being said though - I can't remember the exact context of this comment - I'd have to see it again to make sure, but if Mac wasn't offended, that was probably the reason. She's been in a military environment for so long, harmless sexual comments probably didn't phase her one bit anymore.

3)I think it was a bit of a combo of both. I think she was in part running from her feelings from Harm b/c she felt they weren't mutual and as well, she was a little overwhelmed at Dalton's attention and all the glamour of the 'rich world' that he represented. Since Mac came up from being poor, she was probably at least a little tempted by the idea of being rich. It was only when Dalton proved to be the kind of man he was, and the world of the rich law firm not only didn't have the excitement, but the moral fibre that she had brought herself up to, did she realize she had made a mistake and that she belonged in a place where she was serving a higher purpose.

4) I think AJ tried as much as he would allow himself to talk her out of it, but as a CO he probably didn't believe that he should be coercing anyone to stay under his command. I think he was also a little hurt by her decision and was pissed at her for leaving. And Harm, well a little of the same for him too, but I think the main reason he didn't try to convince her to stay was the same as why he never tried to convince her to do anything - he thought that she knew her own mind and should make her own decisions about her life.

5) Oh definitely. I think if Harm had ever expressed romantic feelings for Mac at anytime in the early seasons, she would have dropped everything for him in a minute. I think that she was secretly hoping he would beg her to stay.

6)I think he was having trouble sorting out his feelings. I think he was really reluctant to get into a relationship with Mac at this point in time (for whatever reason), but I believe at that particular moment, he was thinking that he was really going to regret that decision!

LOL - I loved EMERGENCY too!!! "burr-buh-beee. Squad 51, Squad 51..." ;0)
