How would things be different if Mac had told Harm she was ready to have a baby when he asked her about it in the episode where he kept seeing her pregnant?

Harm was jittery throughout the episode, thinking about Mac's slip of the tongue that it was Little AJ's 5th birthday rather than his 4th birthday. I think Harm was not ready to "seal the deal" yet. And if Mac had wanted to move up the timetable, I think Harm would have backed away, bringing up all kinds of practical things that he had been thinking throughout the episode. . . how much does it cost to raise a kid, would either he or Mac need to be in private practice since they couldn't work together, etc.

this is a quick throw together- no spell check, no double check - first draft- and all I have time for.

season 9 and 10 would be more like the way Bones has been going -

here you go- this picks up at the end of the clip:

"Anything else?" Mac glanced up from the desk.

This was it, his chance. Wasn't it?

"Harm?"

"Hm?" Could he do it. Should he?

"Did you need something else from me?" she asked.

"Oh, uh no, I was just , I mean..."

Mac had to chuckle, for an eloquent lawyer sometimes this man had a hell of a time stringing a sentence together. "What?"

He hitched his shoulder in another casual shrug and took a step closer. "Would it be so bad?"

Mac tilted her head, staring at him. He wondered, not for the first time how would their lives be different if she could simply read his mind? His feelings. And then he saw it. The moment understanding dawned.

Her smile slipped. "Harm. Exactly what are you trying to say?"

This was it. Sink or swim. "Would it be so bad, I mean, if we upped the time table. You know, joined the club?"

Now her eyes rounded like a startled owl. If she hand't already been sitting Harm was pretty sure she would have keeled over. Her mouth opened and closed before any words could came out.

"Okay, never mind. Forget I said anything." He took one step back ready to do an about face and get out the door before he said something else that would ruin everything. Permanently.

"Don't you dare." She shot up out of her chair.

He stopped in his tracks.

One hand on the corner of her desk as though she needed something to help hold her up, she took one step in his direction. "What are you trying to say?"

He took a step forward. One small step at a time. "I already said it."

She took another step and prayed she wasn't getting this wrong."No it wouldn't be so bad." There. she said it.

A small grin tugged at the corner of his mouth. "So, if I said that maybe I did want to, you know, up the time table, you wouldn't keyhaul me?"

"Are you?" She leaned more heavily against the desk. "Harm, are you saying you don't want to wait another year for our deal?"

He swallowed hard and moved forward until he stood inches away from Mac. If he stood still he could almost hear her breathe. "Yeah, Mac. I mean, if you're okay with it. I'd like to, well..."

"Have a baby." Thank God she was holding onto the desk, Mac wasn't all that sure her legs alone could continue to hold her up. "Now?"

Harm nodded.

"Together?" she asked as if it wer possible to have a baby apart.

"Yes, Mac. You and me, have a baby, together. Now, not next year."

This had to be a dream. If she blinked, she was sure she'd open her eyes and find herself staring at the ceiling of her bedroom. What the hell. "Okay. Let's."

Harm stuck his hand out, a grin as wide as the Potomac took over his face. "New deal."

Her heart threatening to beat out of her chest, Mac smiled back, then slid her hand in his. "New deal."
