Subject: Checking in and catching up...

Hey gang! I have been "away" from the board for a while in terms of serious posting, but I do check in about once a week to make sure the paint's not peeling and someone's watering the plants. Lookin' good all around.

I'm glad we're going back to the EotW discussions. Araninda does a great job of asking questions and stuff, and the rest of us do a great job of hashing out the answers. There are still a LOT of great eps left, and I'm looking forward to voting for "Defenseless" - maybe that'll be the next one?

Speaking of which, I saw a commercial for a drug the other day and knew I knew the gal who was doing the talking, but for the life of me couldn't place her. Then, later, it hit me: OH! That's "Beth" from "Defenseless"!! One of my favorite eps because Harm did a better job than the CIA thought he would (as always!), and I really liked seeing the *sparks* between him and Beth. Especially that look at the end... Beth: "I can usually just walk away from a job and not think about it again." Harm: "What happened this time?" **SIGH**!!!

Another character I've seen recently in a commercial is "Larry Kalinsky", Mic's boss from the fancy law firm. He has a bit part in a Dish network (?) ad, and he has all-silver/white hair. LOL

A few more lose thoughts.... happy birthday to all the birthday girls. TH, enjoyed your thread about "Gypsy Eyes" vis-a-vi Mac & Webb. Hope everyone's having a good summer.

[> [> I'm glad you replied, TH, because I thought of something about your Mac/Webb post below... (inside) -- The Chief, 15:05:53 06/30/09 Tue

You said that Mac showed more interest in Falcon than Webb, in GE. Mac *wanted* something from Falcon/Sokol that he wasn't necessarily going to give up easily, but she thought if she buttered him up, she'd get it. CLASSIC use of feminine wiles (and a bit more subtle than Meg w/ the red dress in S1, but same idea).

Mac didn't WANT anything from Webb that she knew he wouldn't eventually give up. She knew from experience, that as hard-to-get as Webb played as a spy (just business), that eventually he'd cough up the right info because it was the right thing to do. He at least had some sort of honor when it came to defense and human life.

AFTER Paraguay, Mac still wasn't "buttering up" Webb, but allowing him to come after her, and responding (sorta) in kind. This is what makes me think she got off track after Paraguay, because she wasn't seeing how he was playing her. She picked up on that stuff pretty quickly with most other guys (Brumby, Chris, Dalton) and didn't let them play her. She was a fairly good judge of character in that respect, and it allowed her to go into relationships w/ eyes wide open. It also made Harm - another good judge of character - roll his eyes and say, "The men you pick..." LOL

Where does Harm fit in? I think she knew, every day, what she was going to get from Harm, and she didn't have to flirt to get it. Even when she didn't understand it, and fought against it, and tried to make "simple things too complicated", I think she knew that she could always trust Harm, and that he'd give her whatever she wanted (except maybe on the ferry in Sydney, but I think she surprised even herself w/ that and, in retrospect, probably wouldn't have wanted it that way anyway). Therefore, she never "put on the charm" w/ Harm, because she knew all she'd have to do is ask (that file, time w/ that witness, an honest answer, a ride to the bank... whatever).

Does any of that make sense? Or do I need to go back and rewatch some eps? LOL

[> Hey Miz Chief! Great to see your post. saw the guy on the Dish network commercial too.(I thought of the Measure of Men episode right away) I dont know if I'll ever get over my JAG moments, either. I've watched so many of the episodes, so many times that they've become ingrained into my psyche.(grin) -- mkim, 21:54:55 06/29/09 Mon

[> [> [> What? Are we all going to Facebook now? I have one, don't really know how to use it. I looked at it yesterday, and all these friends of mine have stupid stuff that's on my site. Am I supposed to sign in each time I break wind and broadcast it to the world? -- TH doesn't get it, 15:04:17 07/02/09 Thu

[> [> [> [> Only if breaking wind is a life changing event. LOL I use my FB account to keep up with high school friends I havent seen in years. I also use it to keep some members of my family updated on the kids happenings. You can also pick and choose who you want to associate with, which is very nice. -- Trish, 15:45:44 07/02/09 Thu
