There would have been lots of interesting questions to explore. The main one being could Harm have even have gotten his father out of Russia. Russia certainly did not want to acknowledge and prove the rumors that US POWs had been sent to the old Soviet Union. Harm Jr. would have faced an international diplomatic crisis and one which he likely would have lost. The storyline might have been interesting for the show to explore, but the effect on his career would have been devastating as the military high-ups would not have been pleased that he was opening a gigantic can of worms.

And of course if Harm Sr. had returned to the US, what then would be his relationship with Trish? She obviously had moved on with her life in totally new directions.

I can see a storyline in which Harm Sr. would be found alive, but he chooses to stay in Russia as a noble gesture to protect those he loves -- the country he served and the wife he left behind and who moved on. And in doing so, he swears his son to secrecy as to his existence so that life can go on without upheaval.

Harm Sr. lives out his days in Russia and Harm Jr. returns to America, although he keeps secret tabs on his father through Sergei and through other Russian contacts.

That's my story.
