Subject: Sail Back Saturday - Harm and AJ

Fortunate Son

Sometimes even average episodes had great character moments buried within. I think one of the best character threads throughout was Harm and AJ bonded through two sides of a war.

Here we have Harm's introspective moment trying to understand his motivations and look past them, realizing his ghosts are still there.. and AJ trusting him and his motivations, while having an understanding of the ghosts that remain.

[> I really loved this part of the show. I loved AJ as a character. I have a brother who served in Vietnam, it loomed so large in my life, it still does in a way. -- mkim, 23:25:55 08/05/14 Tue

[> [> Also, being a child of the Sixties, President Kennedy's inaugural speech, which included "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you cando for your country" I could see why Harm Sr and AJ chose to serve. BTW I have always loved Harm Sr. and Trish's story too. Also AJ and Marcella, there was so much more to know there. sigh! -- mkim, 12:18:15 08/06/14 Wed

[> [> It was one of those subtley wow moments. I think of all the characters they turned into someone else AJ bothers me the most--because of all that he was and all that he stood for. -- Alicia, 23:35:07 08/07/14 Thu

[> Alicia, you are so right about the "character moments" buried in the episodes. They are really what made the show so good. The stories were the entree's, but those character moments were the perfect gourmet sauce lightly drizzled. -- The Chief (Sorely tempted to watch that pair of eps again right this minute but it's past my bedtime this week.... maybe over the weekend), 00:01:22 08/08/14 Fri
