Subject: By Mac's word she and Webb weren't "involved", so keeping them together while they were getting medical treatment wouldn't equal romance. Once Harm and AJ finished the mission, Harm could go to the hospital and talk to Mac about how he had to come, and why. AJ knew why Harm wanted to go, I could see him saying "I'm going with you, and when you get her out of there, what do you are going to do to keep her?" Harm would have that in his head. Especially if there was a proper reunion scene when her got her off that torture table, they'd both be thinking of each other.

He and Harm might have made the journey together, but I don't think AJ would have bombed the missiles. Look at it this way, had AJ been there, Harm might have had the opportunity to tell Mac what she meant to him.

However, in reality, Harm not only had the opportunity once, he had it twice, maybe three times. They were alone on the bed together. A kiss nearly happened. It was interrupted. Some truths and some false assumptions came out. Again, the subject was broached. Again, the subject was tabled. A stop was put forward by Mac, to no resistance from Harm.

So having AJ there would have made some difference to the the outcome of the missiles, and no difference whatsoever to the romantic outcome...in my opinion.

No plane crash would mean no concussion for Harm as well so his actions would be different.
