Subject: This pair is definitely Classic JAG and worthy of a 5. The goodbye scene alone makes it a 10. Inside...

This is a classic episode for me because of the power and depth of the story in these two episodes. It brings some painful closure for Harm and also gives Harm and Mac a chance to continue becoming closer even for as long as it took to finally get to that "deadline" Harm said he needed. Harm and Mac could always share very personal things with each other and I can't think of anyone else that Harm would have wanted with him on this journey other than Mac.

2. I think Trish was pushing some, just as all mothers do. But I also think we weren't privy to conversations between the two when he talked about Mac. I think she got a hint that Harm had feelings for her even if he was yet to act on them.

3. I think Trish and Frank had a good marriage. As someone else has already said finding out the truth about Harm Sr. brought closure and a new closeness between the two. Harm had never been close with Frank because of his desire to see his father come home, but as the years drew on and he matured, Harm at least became friends with Frank and I think some of that took place when he came back from 'Nam after he had run off. Frank always considered Harm as a son, but never did he consider himself as a replacement for Harm Sr. A fine line for a step parent to walk.

4. Seducement 101. Why not? They would be away from home and I think she may have been starting to sense that "thing" between them. Also to see if Harm could view her as a woman and not just a partner and friend.

5. Harm always was driven by his emotions. Even where Mac was concerned. He just took more time to act on them where she was concerned because he knew that the stakes were too high to fail. I think they probably visited with the Russian woman as much as they could so Harm could learn as much about this father's last few years as possible. Did Mac comfort him...you better believe it! There might not have been any horizontal sheet action taking place, but her shoulder and comfort were there for him.

6. The sadness of Harm Sr.'s death was needed for Harm to be able to move on in his life. It would have been nice if he could have gone to the gravesite, but the power of his emotional goodbye to his dad was something that still brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it.

This is probably one of my top 10 favorite episodes of the series.

[> I'll be the bad guy and say it was a 4+. The reason I don't give it a 5 is because I hate the Russia storyline. It never makes sense to me, especially after Sergei shows up. We have this emotional scene and Harm meeting this (IMO) really old lady and I'm supposed to believe that she realizes Harm came all this way, she has his half brother but doesn't tell him. -- TH, 00:12:46 08/07/09 Fri

2. I see Harm as the perfunctory phone call once a week guy. I'm sure Mac's name came up often. When Trish asks about Annie and realizes that Harm has "let another one go" probably after hearing about Annie for YEARS, Trish correctly deduces that Mac is a factor. I liked the Trish character, and never felt that she was stupid.

3. Second husbands of widows realize that, except for the death of their husbands, this new relationship never would have been. Harm Sr. not only died, he died in the prime of his life, he died because of a war, and he died a hero. Those are HUGE shows to fill. I think that Frank gave Trish a sense of stability that she did not have with Harm Sr. At the same time, I think he lacked the excitement and passion of the Harm Sr/ Trish relationship. Nevertheless, I believe Frank and Trish loved each other and had a happy marriage. The two marriages represented different types of lasting love for a marriage; neither is necessarily "better" than the other. It's just different.

4. This is top secret, but Mac was really a Harmy lady. She took that nightie hoping to get lucky with Harm. She thought the name of that hotel was the Manly Arms. When she didn't have a room, she planned to use the closet, like any good Harmy would do.

Bottom line, it made a good story because who wanted to see Mac sleeping in Marine issue boxers and a T-shirt?

5. Harm was emotional and he was often driven by his emotions. In fact, I bet we have more times when Harm was driven by his emotions than Mac was. That being said, I guess TPTB answer is that there was a big gorilla called career and Harm didn't see how to make it work. I think it was more that while there was emotion and there was passion, Harm and Mac were very competitive, particularly Mac. I think that was a large part of the gorilla, not that they were both JAG lawyers focused on their careers. Rather, I think it was that they tended to compete within their careers, and Harm didn't want to compete.

6. Well, it was one of DB's pseudo-paranormal storylines from the early years, and he really didn't know how to resolve it. It would have been creepy to have him alive, so it was just easier to have him dead and move the show forward.
