my daughter was also told to bring a bottle of water and snacks ahead of time by the employees of the pageant and she did. but a mother of one of the girls in the pageant supplied everyone with bottled water, and her daughter didn't even place.
she was awarded two trophies and believe it or n ot she had fun. The contest was definetly mismanaged and lasted well past 10:00, after a late start and to many intermissions.
my daughter left with sore feet and lots of phone numbers and myspace addresses, so if you are lucky and have a good looking kid and one with personality and just has a good time being a girl you should be proud. you certainly don't need a pageant to tell y ou that.

It's wonderful to see that the people who think they know the most actually know the least. The judges are VOLUNTEERS. I have been a judge. We are not paid. We get a lunch, PERIOD. No gas money, no pay. But I have gotten something every time. I get to see the girls who know why they are doing this have a great time. It's a learning experience, people. Your kids need to learn that LIFE WILL NOT BE PERFECT. They need to learn that THE WORLD DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND THEM. Do your kids play sports? Do they win EVERY GAME ?? Do your kids a favor a get the point. By the way, it's not a scam. I've judged 3 times; I ask to be called back. Sure it's on my own time, but that's what makes it so rewarding to me. I'm not patting myself on the back, but I guess I have a grip on why we are here on this earth. Another by the way. When our age division(meaning the one we are not judging) is not on stage we are allowed to get up and go potty, for crying out loud. We do NOT have to remain at the table for all age divisions...same way in the BIG Pageants. do yourself and your kid a favor, until you have a handle on productive parenting, better to just stay at home and whine.
