TVR Reporter Has Chance at Miss USA
SPRINGFIELD
Kristi Capel, a Springfield TV news and weather reporter, was crowned Miss Missouri, USA, for 2006 on Sunday night in Kansas City.
Capel, 22, will be eligible to compete in the Miss USA pageant next year, said Scott Voorhees, spokesman for the state event.
She also will receive a four-year scholarship at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, and will be speaking to young women, senior citizens and hospital patients around the state, Voorhees said.
Capel works for Springfield 33 KSPR. She graduated from Evangel University with a degree in broadcasting.
This year, 61 contestants competed for the title, Voorhees said.
They were judged in three categories swimsuit, evening gown and interview.
