Good afternoon,
Sorry for the long delay. I have learned a great deal about LCD screens and this machine in the meantime, including continuing to hit a blank wall with Gateway and Samsung. Gateway will repair the machine for $300 but neither Gateway nor Samsung will sell the board (which is designated SIC 850, part no. BA44-00121A).
First, I have found another customer with the same model and same system symptoms. I do not get any beeps with boot up. Only a brief flash of the GATEWAY logo and then a dark gray, almost black screen. I think I can see a reflection of the CCFL at the bottom of the screen. Despite the inverter board part being listed on the SAMSUNGPARTS web site for $71.05, it was not available when I ordered it.
Do you have any other suggestions?

The answer to your wuestion about another monitor is yes, I tried it and got no signal. I know this suggests possibly a problem with the computer, maybe the video card.
