Right'o Murray,
After some investigating on my machine.
Try this:
In the BIOS (press F2 at boot)
Set Quickboot mode to disabled
Set Quiet boot to disabled
Reboot
Now when the machine starts up, it will go through a memory test first (takes a while), right after this it displays the drives attached to the laptop.
I think the bottom line is what CD/DVD drive is installed (it doesn't sit around very long)
My 9550 says Toshiba SD-R2002 see how you go.
This will definitly confirm what drive you have.
I have a feeling you might have been duped, but I could be wrong.
