First try connecting to an external monitor and if the display is normal then the video card is good. Was the replacement invertor the same (P/N) as the old one? If so, then there is the possibility that the backlight itself is out or the LCD board, mounted on the back of the LCD, is bad. If you get a faint display then I suspect the backlight is out, which is in a groove on the bottom edge of the LCD. The backlight looks like a thin flourescent tube and is very fragile. Replacement of the video card is a major effort and requires removal of the top plastic of the base chassis . The sound is also on the video card. Email me if you like.
