I have a Portable System Restore CD set (2-disks; disk 1 is drivers, disk 2 is OS). Mine was for the 9300, but does have software for the 2500.

Drivers are there for the Kingmax and Margi DVD players.
PCMCIA\DVD\Kingmax or PCMCIA\DVD\MARGI

As far as poor playback with DVD software, make sure that DMA is enable for the IDE interface and the drive if possible. 160Mb of RAM under Win98SE should be sufficient for good DVD playback.
