Chris, the keyboard comes up from several tabs on the lower sides and front. Here are the locations...you will need a very small flat balde screw driver or small knife blade to pry the tabs up:
Starting left to right on the front row, towards you facing the machine, between the Fn and Crtl keys, left and right edges of the touch pad, between the I think its a page scroll key and the Ctrl key. On the left side of the board, the Caps Lock key and the Fn key and on the right side, the flat key underneath the End key all have a small tab.
After releasing the tabs, gently raising the keyboard you will see its cable connected to the top right of the machine. Lay the keybaord down over the LCD (which you should have lying all the way back)careful not to pull the cable loose. No problem if you do, you can reseat it. Next you'll see the heatsink and several screws. All the screws are not necessary to be removed...just the ones with an arrow beside them and the four to the top right which directly cover the processor chip. Be very careful not to drop one onto the system board...they can get lodged against something or even under the board making you have to take the machine completely apart. The fan will be located in the upper right as you know.
Another thing to check is if you have the version 1.5 or the Pentium 3 model, go into the BIOS and under DOS Power, select Speedstep Mode and experiment with the settings there. I don't remember, but I can recall a while ago someone having that problem and a change to that helped. I just don't remember the change.

Anyway, hope this helps.

Michael
