I'm trying to keep a Solo 5350 working for another year until we can afford to buy another laptop. The screen just went out. I tested it with the docking station, connected to an external monitor, to rule out video problems -- works fine there. The screen does backlight but it's all kind of white and blue and streaky. Occasionally it clears up, then reverts back. I figured out how to remove the lid and I've had excellent luck with eBay so I tried getting a complete lid (including ribbon cable) there. Wouldn't you know I'd have one of my rare bad experiences. The seller had great feedback (99.9%) and advertised it as "like new, clean and blemish free" and guaranteed it not to be DOA -- I was surprised to receive a filthy lid with a scratched up LCD. I attempted to clean but I think it was nicotine and would not all come off so I returned it for refund. Now I can't find another complete cover so I may have to open up the bezel. How could I test to be sure it's not the ribbon cable (and where can I buy a ribbon cable, if it is)? And, is there any website where I might find detailed instructions for replacing the LCD? Or, would someone here be willing to post detailed instructions? Thanks for any help/advice...
