I was able to watch the "Night of the Champions" concert at The Orpheum theater in downtown LA kagabi. It was quite exciting and lively. It's fun watching the future of the Philippine music industry. Ang gagaling nilang lahat. I was really fond of Sarah and Mark among the four of them. Sarah is a natural. She looked at home on the stage. Mark's stage presence was quite eminent, and because of that talagang nakukuha nya ang attention ng audience.
Each of them paid tribute to their OPM idols. Rachelle did a Sharon Cuneta medley, but her rendition of "Ikaw" was Regine inspired, LOL. Christian did a Martin medley, that was nice too. Mark did a Gary V medley, and though maganda naman, I think mas Martin ang boses nya. Sarah did a Regine medley. Not to take anything away from Sarah, but filipinos are very keen in observing popular singers singing Regine's songs. A lot of people sensed that she is not up to that level YET after hearing that Regine medley (she faltered a couple of times in Dadalhin and Narito Ako). After doing her Regine medley, she looked relieved and said "Phewww, ang hirap talagang kantahin ang mga songs ni Miss Regine". She acknowledged Regine as being a very significant person in her career and has helped her a lot to be where she is at now in her career. Sarah did a spectacular Celine medley later on in the show and actually got the only standing ovation performance with that number.
Overall, it was a very good show. These youngsters are full of potential and are very promising. We're hoping to see more of them here in LA soon. :-)
