Subject: " Yehey! Jasmine Returns
to the MotherLand .."

Greetings,

Wow. How nice naman.. What a trip to see
Jasmine on Philippine soil. And boy, doesn't
see look like super-celeb JOLINA? Were those
2 singers separated at birth or what?!

lol..

Man, Jasmine is just all over the media here!

FULL PAGE ADS in the newspaper every .. single ..
day .. My gulay! Its a fan paradise. Sorry if
you're not in the country at this time and
space. Its not everyday the youngsters of
the land get to see a hot icon who has yet
to hit her prime. Usually they come around
when they are about to retire or something..

Last one was Tia Carrera.

I'm a Philippine music webber. And I watched
some of those incredible moments of hers on
American Idol. Everyone was talking about
them even though for a while there the only
place you could see it was on cableTV.

It was a real pleasure to hear Jasmine say
that one of the music artists she like to meet
here was Regine Velasquez. Because to me it
was mostly the Regine fans I knew who were
bringing it up and talking about it among
themselves in the Regine yahoo lists.

U n b e l i e v a b l e ..

And I hope those two girls get to meet!

I hope they do. I'll always continue supporting
Jasmine for being what she is. The kind of music
artist I can admire and appreciate, as a good person
and pinay I can be proud of.

Mabuhay, Jasmine!

Have a jollibee on me. lol..
(dats our Mcdonalds here.)

*tidbit- I proudly witnessed when pinoy music fans
got things rolling during a discussion then the
react to action to write local newspapers to mention
in their on-line entertainment sections about voting
for Jasmine in the US. Jasmine instead appeared on
almost every single major newspaper front page
repeatedly. It was just an awesome thing to see..

:-)
'

Send me the Jasmine links for posting in the
Philippines Music Buzz, please..

Thank you-

AMERICAN IDOL'S 'HOMECOMING'
It's Jasmine Day in Cavite

TANZA, Cavite, Philippines -- Jasmine Trias fans, both young and
old, spilled out into the streets of this town on Monday to touch,
wave or catch a glimpse of the American Idol finalist.

Young fans lined, no, filled the 25-km stretch of the motorcade
route which started at 3 p.m. at the national road in Bacoor town
and ended just before dusk at the Arayata Sports Complex.

The motorcade took Trias to the towns of Kawit and General Trias, a
town named after famous revolutionary Mariano Trias, the first vice
president of the country and who could very well be an ancestor of
the pop princess.

This is Trias' first visit to the country of her parents Rudy Trias
Jr. and Mora, who both hail from Tanza, Cavite. Trias and her
siblings were born and raised in Hawaii.

Despite the motorcade's tight security, Trias made sure she reached
out to all her fans. She tirelessly waved and sometimes even stopped
to shake hands with delighted fans.

Organizers and local officials who sponsored her visit here
were not only dazzled by the diminutive pop star, they were
impressed by her humility.

Cavite Vice Governor Johnvic Remulla, who led local officials in
welcoming Trias, said over 500,000 people turned out to welcome the
Filipino-American pop idol.

"The reception of the people was simply amazing. We are very proud
that she is from Cavite and that she proudly acknowledges that,"
Remulla said.

Float or SUV?

The motorcade was momentarily delayed when Trias' mother reportedly
refused to let her daughter ride the float, constructed for her by
the telecommunications company that she endorses.

An organizer, who requested anonymity, said Trias' mother thought
the float did not look sturdy.

A local politician saved the day by graciously lending his SUV with
a sun-roof which Trias gratefully rode.

In Bacoor town, Trias noticed a little boy in sando (sleeveless
undershirt) and shorts trying to catch up with the motorcade. She
told the driver to stop, got candy from her bag and asked one of her
bodyguards to give it to the little boy.

Cavite City Vice Mayor Dino Chua, who witnessed the whole thing,
said, "She is really kind-hearted. She said she especially liked the
students who waited a long time for her."

Trias was supposed to offer a wreath at the tomb of Gen. Emilio
Aguinaldo at the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit but throngs of fans
prevented her from going near the shrine. Instead, she left a wreath
on the road near the site.

In Bacoor and Kawit, classes in some public and private schools had
been suspended so students and teachers could welcome Trias.

In Tanza town, Mayor Raymundo del Rosario declared Oct. 11
as "Jasmine Trias Day" and suspended classes and work in public and
private offices. This allowed residents to gather at the Arayata
Sports Complex as early as 10 a.m. to welcome their townmate.

"This is a historic moment for us. We have in our midst a very
popular singer who traces her roots from our town. This is amazing,"
Del Rosario said.

Tanzeños, who filled the complex to the rafters, cheered when the
program host announced the pop idol's arrival.

Trias, dressed in a silver-white top, performed her version of the
Regine Velasquez song "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw," which she also sings in
one of her commercials.

An inspiration

After singing before an appreciative crowd, Trias went directly to
SM Bacoor mall where she handed out school supplies and gifts to 30
selected scholars of a public elementary school in Cavite City.

In the evening, she attended a testimonial dinner hosted for her by
members of the Cavite Vice Mayors' League and the National Movement
of Young Journalists-Cavite held at the Island Cove Resort in
Binakayan in Kawit.

The two groups presented Trias with separate awards of recognition
for "her triumph in the American Idol contest . . . and recognition
of her ethnicity and ancestry here in Cavite."

"She is really humble despite her achievements. She is a good role
model for her generation," Imus vice mayor Manny Maliksi said.

Trias called on President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in Malacañang
yesterday, giving her autographed pictures, two boxes of macadamia
nuts and an orchid similar to what she wore in her hair during the
AI competitions.

Unlike other international stars who came to the Palace, Trias'
visit was low-key. Only television cameramen and photographers were
allowed to cover the brief visit at the Malacañang Music Room
yesterday afternoon.

Jasmine security men 'stricter than PSG'

TANZA, Cavite -- Exaggerated security measures made sure the Idol
was unreachable.

Thousands of Caviteños who wanted to get a glimpse of their
provincemate, Fil-Am Jasmine Trias of "American Idol," were
frustrated by the tight security during a two-hour motorcade that
took the 17-year-old to her father's hometown here on Monday.

The fans included a couple who said they would name their
forthcoming baby Jasmine.

"They were even stricter than the (Presidential Security Group)," a
Cavite newspaper photographer said of the security men.

Eva Reyes, 32, a bank employee, said she and her two daughters had
to wake up at 5 a.m. and traveled from Tagaytay City to this town,
hoping to get Jasmine's autograph.

But Reyes and her daughters were disappointed when brawny security
men prevented people from getting near the singer from Mililani on
Oahu island in Hawaii.

"Our efforts were wasted," Reyes said in Filipino. "They were overly
strict. They should have at least let some of the fans get close to
Jasmine because she was the reason we came here."

But Reyes added that their frustration faded away after she and her
daughters heard the Fil-Am girl sing live at the Arayata Sports
Complex.

"At least we didn't have to pay for expensive tickets to see and
listen to her in person," she said.

Chris Rubio, of Dasmari¤as, Cavite, and his seven months pregnant
wife braved the raucous crowd but burly men in black shirts also
prevented them from getting near the stage.

Rubio said a local politician, who was among those who sponsored
Jasmine's visit to Cavite, had invited them. His wife wanted to have
a picture taken with Jasmine, he added.

Rubio said he had been a "solid supporter" of the Fil-Am pop star
even during the start during the "American Idol" search.

"My wife even asked her relatives in the US to vote for Jasmine," he
told the Inquirer.

Rubio confessed that he and his wife were keen on naming their baby
Jasmine.

Even members of the media were not spared from the extra-tight
security.

Security personnel kept journalists at bay even as they tried to
interview Jasmine. Photographers also complained security men who
shoved away some of them when they tried to get near Jasmine.

A photographer for a Cavite newspaper said the security personnel
were "overacting."

"They were reacting too much," said Inquirer photojournalist Edwin
Bacasmas of the security men.

Journalists were kept from reaching the backstage of the sports
complex. A certain Edwin ordered the gate closed as the Inquirer and
a television crew from ABS-CBN tried to go backstage and interview
Jasmine's father Rodolfo Jr.

"No media people are allowed here," the staff member shouted at the
journalists.

A TV reporter said Jasmine's relatives and handlers should
understand that she became popular in the country with a lot of help
from the media. "It is the elaborate media coverage which made
Jasmine famous in the country," the reporter pointed out.

A staffer of the organizing committee said they were being extra
careful not to break the specific provisions of Jasmine's contract
with her American manager.

---------------

You guys read that?

Media thinks people like Jasmine become
famous not from her talent and accomplishment
outside the country but from MEDIA exposure
inside the country.

hehe..
( Wat? no word of mouth here?!)

24 hours with Jasmine Trias

WITH HER transpacific charms, Jasmine Trias has mesmerized the whole
nation. From the sun-drenched shores of Hawaii to the hills of
Hollywood to the 7,107 islands of the Philippines, flower power owes
its resurgence to the enchanting powers of Jasmine Trias.

Jasmania in Manila has started the minute she set foot on
the "American Idol" stage, subject to the vitriol of Simon, Randy
and Paula. Now pitching a whole slew of products from floral shirts
to french fries, Jasmine is barely taking five from her first major
concert to be staged tonight at the Araneta Coliseum.

We stalked Jasmine Trias from Singapore to Manila, followed her from
Mc Donald's in South Super to her Bench autograph signing spree in
SM Megamall like a deranged fan hit with some Jasmanic fever.

Here, she takes time out to signs ourguest book while munching on
her Jasmine Trio.

The thing about fame is: it's not all glamorous as it seems, but
it's all worth it.

The thing I love most about what I do is: that I get the opportunity
to perform in front of thousands of people and it's a dream come
true for me.

People might be surprised to know that: I need at least 10 hours of
sleep a day

The most important thing I've ever learned is: that you need to stay
true to yourself and be a strong person.

I wish when I started off I'd been told that: it would be a lot of
hard work. So I learned a lot of patience along the way.

The worst thing that ever happened to me was: that I lost my shoe on
stage during a concert. So I had on one shoe when I was performing.

And what this taught me was: to strap your shoes on tighter.

The happiest moment of my life was: stepping on to the American Idol
stage for the first time.

The secret to happiness is: knowing what you want in life, pursuing
it, and then enjoying it.

My best ever outfit consisted of: a pinkish bronzy Karen Millen
beaded top with olive green rouged capris with nude pink Karen
Millen shoes and a chain belt with a flower in my ear.

My Super Saturday night consists of: dancing and having a good time
at a night club.

The soundtrack to my life would include: Love Ko 'To

If I was invisible for a day, I would: Go shopping to a mall by
myself. Privacy is such a luxury now!

The thing that makes me most angry is: No sleep

If I was the most powerful person on earth: I would make sure that
there was no poverty and that everyone would be living happily ever
after.

The best thing about family is: that they're always there for you no
matter what happens and they'll always love you no matter what.

When I'm gone, they'll probably say: that I was a good person and
that I love what I do.

If money was no option: I would still be doing what I'm doing: being
a singer, a performer, an entertainer

When I retire, I would like: To live in a big house with my family
in Hawaii.

The world would be a much better place if: there was no poverty and
no war.

My hero is: Alicia Keys

The thing that makes my life worth living is: that I get to do what
I love to do.

My greatest hope for the future is: that I want to have a long
successful career and be the happiest that I've ever been.
