The Friends of Distinction is best known for the Top 10 hit “Grazin’ in the Grass.” That song alone could send anyone dancing on their seats. Yet they can sing anything else and still send the audience in a frenzy. They accomplish this without having to rap or sing loud, raging music spiced with countless expletives.

The Friends trace their beginnings to Ray Charles’ front act group the Hi-Fis. Original members were Elston, Marilyn McCoo, Floyd Butler and Lamont McLemore. The group disbanded in 1968 but Elston and Butler formed the Friends of Distinction, while McCoo and McLemore went on to form The Fifth Dimension.

mmJun says: This group has one song I always kept behind
in my head as a song I was betting Regine would not only
like but might relate to as well.

The song is " That's Not the Way We Planned It. "

And it would have been a much better and meaningful
song than the one she did with croner/heartbreaker Ariel
De Belen.

The words speak better than "Tell Me." Because it was
a question that was being asked by Regine that only
he should be answering. Not asking Regine to tell him
what happened. And where did she go wrong. Because she
seemed to really want to know that. Has he still not
told her up to now his truth? I doubt it. Because she
wouldn't be there singing about asing if had.

You know Regine she sings what she is saying.

:-( *sigh*

That's not the way we planned it
That's not the way we planned our love..
I don't understand it
I just don't understand our love-

After all, didn't Ariel ask her father for her
hand in marriage? Wasn't that the plan they had?
( Interesting to note that this info came from
Regine fans but seems to be missing from every
single article taking about them? Who tried to
hide this fact from the story? Its intriguing.
And seems very familiar.. )

No wonder Regine has been in caught in that
state of the heart till now. Being friends
again doesn't make a complete closure.
It just makes the scene easier to deal with.

Once again only the truth would turn the page
to end this long overdue chapter in her life.

I'm calling on Ariel to do as he said and
deal with this issue once and for all in
a mature manner he mentioned about. By
telling Regine the real truth. And this
time leave your manager at the office
and your girlfriend now wife in the car
and face the music on your own.

Not in that teledrama you're about to
do with her. Because it will be asked.
Trust that.

So shave and brace for any slappings.
