Before I get violent reactions form you.... it's not only SOP that sufferes the same fate... ASAP encounters that same problems as often as SOP.

It's the choice of song. These singers, sad to say, had an over indulgence for screaming till they pop a vein on their foreheads... if you know what I mean...
That is the biggest cause of vocal strain for any singer... local or international.
Mariah showed signs of vocal strain by the dawn of 1997 in her Butterfly Album
Whitney showed signs of vocal strain as early as 1993
and even made a live "boo boo" with I Will Always Love You at the least expected place... the Grammys
Celine's voice is probably the least strained among the three but it has significant changes to the sound... she is to razor sharp now...her voice before was a bit deeper and richer.
The point is.. this manner of singing where "the highest note is the meter of superiority"..... is the key factor to vocal strain, and total depletion.
Regine and Jaya always sing na parang "susuka sila ng piano"... impressive but it takes a toll on them. And as per choice of songs....
You can't sing everything for Christ's sake!
They should be a bit more selective.... Their porformances are derived from so many factors: Time constraint, fad/ poupular song, range, and availability of materials (lyrics etc.)
And they are often caught offguard..... that is the sad part.... It always looks like the dress rehearsal... never the real show. That is their measure of "galing"... whoever can sing on the spot... regardless of familiarity with the song's tune, lyrics and timing.... is magaling. Yeah it can be true but as performers, they shouldn't forget that they have to deliver 100%... but instead.. They either forget a word or line, go off-key, or simply sing out of synch.
Regine, Jaya (particularly), Lani, Ogie, Jano (especially), Zsa Zsa, Vina, and the younger ones too
They sometimes take their performance for granted.
Never heard kuh or Leah make a booboo... they are always on stage with style, finess and in full vocal form..... They dont have Regine or Lani's range... but both ladies' over all attitude towards performance makes the difference. If you know what I mean.
It happens to everyone... there are some bad moments in every performer's lifetime.
Key is Choosing the suitable song
Memorizing the lines
Giving it your all
and Losing the attitude
