I actually saw the show two Saturdays ago pa. And here's my review. (Bongga, nag re-review na aketch, lol.)
Maliit lang 'yong venue at mga 80% puno. Of course 90% nang crowd is pinoy. 3pm ang show nila, ibig sabihin, hindi prime time. I doubt if they would ever make it to prime time. Si Lani pwede pa, pero ang SOS, ewan ko lang. I don't know how the group could hold up with the series of shows. I've heard that they are not selling well on weekdays. If you ask me, the downfall of the show is the SOS. Pang pinoy crowd lang talaga sila. And their impersonations of legendary Vegas performers were really poor. However in fairness, Lani did very well with her impersonations. Do'n sya kilala eh, LOL.
SOS have been around na in Vegas, it's only now that they're given a break at Bally's, for the very obvious reason, Lani Misalucha. The show wouldn't have carried through without Lani. Based on the people's cheers and applause, most of the people really came there to see Lani, and not the SOS. Parang nakisabay na lang ang SOS sa kay Lani.
Sa performances naman. Well, it's more of like a musical comic act actually. Lani didn't really do much of singing the way she does in her shows. She mainly did imitations of Celine, Barbara, Britney, etc... Comic act lang talaga. Parang nag step down sya from a concert artist to a comic act performer. Well I guess she had to start from the bottom again, kasi di pa sya kilala sa Vegas. I can tell that the people wanted to hear her sing more songs using her own interpretation, rather than mimicking the original artists. Pero gaya nga ng sinabi ko, comic act nga eh. Kaya she needs to follow her script. As usual, Lani's crowd pleasing operatic impressions were the most applauded numbers of the show (Nessun Dorma & some excerpts from the Phantom).
Overall, the SOS was so-so, Lani was impressive and promising. If ever Bally's decides to go on with the show, it would be with Lani only. SOS didn't really do much for me or the rest of the crowd.
About Regine naman in Vegas. Pwede ba, eh reyna na sya eh, tapos bababa pa sya sa trono nya para gumawa ng comic act sa Vegas. Hello, ok lang kayo? Regine has a reputation to protect and she is the Philippine's pride, tapos mag ma-matinee show lang sya sa Vegas? Isipin nyong mabuti. Regine represents the Philippine's finest, it is her responsibility to carry our name with dignity. Di sya pwedeng basta-basta na lang. She's one of the world's finest for crying out loud, and that is recognized by other international arists (Brian McKnight, David Foster, Legrand, etc...) The reason why Regine is very much respected all over the world, even by other artists, kasi, DI SYA NAGPAPATALO O SASALUDO SA IBANG BANSA O SA KAHIT KANINO MANG ARTIST...SYA ANG TUMATANGGI AT HINDI SYA ANG TINATANGGIHAN. REGINE WILL NOT STOOP DOWN JUST FOR A GIG IN VEGAS. Kaya I am soooooo proud of her (ayan naiiyak na tuloy ako). We all should be proud of her. Hayaan nyong dumayo ang mga lintek na foreigners na yan para makinig sa Asia's Songbird. 'Yan ang Songbird, hindi magla-landing para kani-kanino lang. Kaya swerte tayong mga pinoy. Regine loves performing for the pinoys more than any other audiences in the world. Otherwise, matagal nang iniwan ni Regine ang Pinas. Regine RULES...

Some of your pinoy pop culture observations is
right on the money.
Good timing too. I'm suppose to release a music
report to the Regine list tomorrow about an
4 year old Regine media attack (the copycat issue)
that came out during the time of her "R2K" run.
Who was responsible for having it posted and
pushed into the media. And who in reality was
the actual artist who was being the true copycat
back then. Make a wild guess on that one. lolz..
