Oh. Well, I mentioned it differently to MTV-ASIA but
it shouldn't make too much of a difference in their
reply. If they send one. Thanks for bringing things
up to my attention. -mmJun
(this is a repost)
The following information was sent to MTV-ASIA. Made it
quick to the point. I don't really expect a reply. But
you do the walk regardless. You never know. -mmJun

Public Relations and Press Inquiries: MTV VOTE TALLY
Greetings,
I'm Jun Manalang. Webber of the Philippines Music Inside Buzz. And I like to inquire about the voting tally of the recent MTV-ASIA awards. Some music fans wrote in telling me that Regine Velasquez had more than 60% of the vote. While the actual winner( parokya ni edgar ) had only 3-5% at the time they were voting. Were their other factors included in the voting? Like texting? Can we ask what the final tallies were for the artists who were in the running, please. I would appreciate an answer from you. Thank you for your attention.

MTV-ASIA Writes in / Regarding the Votes Tally
Dear Regine fans- I wrote a letter to MTV-ASIA because several
fans were asking questions about the recent MTV-ASIA AWARDS.
My own position was made clear in a post I put out on the
Regine interactive forum board. I'm personally not surprised
about who won. Regine had a slow year as far as recording is
concerned. But those insanely funny dudes who won had a BIG
year for them. That one song is still being played by my
neighbors. hehe.. " hoy, hoy. hoy.."
But when fans ask me personally? I will do my best to react.
Because It was said long before how important Regine fans
are and what they truly feel and think about when it is
related to the artist.

The MTV-ASIA reply as follows:
Dear mmJun,
Thank you for your email to MTV.
We would like to clarify that the voting this year was from 15 Nov to
15 Jan 04, with an extension to end Jan 04, due to overwhelming
response. For the first month (from 15 Nov to 14 Dec 03) we showed
the total number of votes via a bar chart against each nominee. This
was to spur fans into voting for their favourites and allowing them
to see what each nominee's support during that period of time. [This
may be what your writers were referring to]
For the following six weeks, the website no longer showed the bar
charts and we kept it all confidential till the night of the awards
itself. The entire voting included online, SMS and postcard return
mechanisms. These were then tabulated and results were audited
accordingly.
We would appreciate your understanding that we do not reveal final
votes nor percentages as it would be unfair to other artists who
received less nominations. We reserve to protect the rights of these
artists (whether Regine, PNE or otherwise) and assure you that PNE
was definitely the winner in the Favourite Artist - Philippines
category.
Thank you for writing in and all the best.
Cheers!
