Four of showbiz’s most sophisticated and attractive (and sexiest) actresses–Gretchen Barretto, Dawn Zulueta, Ruffa Gutierrez and Pops Fernandez–are starring in the local movie version of America’s TV hit Desperate Housewives. To be sure, the four are neither desperate nor plain housewives.

It's a casting coup, no doubt. We are referring to the Mother Lily Monteverde’s feat of casting four of showbiz’s most sophisticated and attractive (and sexiest) actresses in one movie.
Gretchen Barretto, Dawn Zulueta, Ruffa Gutierrez and Pops Fernandez are starring in the local movie version of America’s TV hit Desperate Housewives.
To be sure, the four are neither desperate nor ordinary housewives. Gretchen’s live-in partner is Tonyboy Cojuangco, CEO of ABC 5 TV network and former chair of PLDT. Dawn’s husband, businessman Anton Lagdameo, is a scion of a wealthy family from Davao. Ruffa is married to Turkish millionaire Yilmaz Bektas. Pops, who is separated from singer Martin Nievera, has built a personal fortune from a highly successful singing career.
The film project was nearly torpedoed by a rift (or misunderstanding) between Gretchen and Dawn. Gretchen was first reported to have said she would not do the project if Dawn was in the cast. Insiders say the movie was conceived with Gretchen, and that’s why she has the right to dictate who she wants to work with.
According to reports, Gretchen had carried a long-standing grudge against Dawn allegedly because during social gatherings in the past, the latter would reportedly snub Gretchen because the family of Tonyboy, who is a cousin of Anton, did like Gretchen. But things have been patched up after Dawn apologized to Gretchen for the perceived slight in the past.
