Equal Rights for Gays .. Gays, give equal right to women..
There are party-list representatives for all kinds of communities,
sectors and groups that cover a wide spectrum of geographic,
political, social, and cultural classifications. So why not a party-
list representative for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders?
This marginalized community comprises a sizable part of national
demographics. If studies are to be believed, possibly 10 percent of
the population belong to this community. So why shouldn’t they be
allowed to run for Congress as a party-list?
Okay, I know that there are people who, even in this day and age of
supposed enlightenment, still refuse to acknowledge the existence of
lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders in society for reasons I
cannot understand, and that’s another column.
But whether the homophobes like it or not, lesbians, gays, bisexuals
and transgenders do exist. They are our brothers, sisters, cousins,
friends, uncles, aunts, relatives, teachers, engineers, lawyers,
etc. They pay taxes. They are citizens of this country. And they are
claiming what is rightfully theirs under the Constitution—equal
rights, in this case, equal opportunity to seek legitimate
representation in Congress.

While I believe in equal rights for all.. women, children,
gays, sensitive men, and for pet cat owners- I have one
question to ask :
When are gays like Boy Abunda going to start acting
that women deserve the same equal threatment by them
as everyone else?
Boy Abunda has been tagged as a closet woman hater.
I don't like people telling me that is a sign of
the way alot of gays are. I need that statement
to be proven wrong. Being the woman ( & cat )
lover that I'am. It can't be true. But if it
was, its hard to imagine wanting to give some
people the same kind of rights they are refusing
to give to our women like Regine Velasquez and
(fmr) married women like Pops Fernandez. They
deserves the right to live and to love as they
choose. Especially to who they choose. It shouldn't
be someone like Boy Abunda is trying to make that
decision for them and others**.
