Handsome Australian heartthrob Brad Turvey revealed he is loveless at the moment, denying rumors linking him to three female celebrities Iza Calzado, Nicole Anderson, and Maui Taylor.
In an interview with Manila Bulletin during the opening of the Dimsum n’ Dumplings branch at the Food Patio of the PBCom Tower on Ayala Ave., Makati City where he was guest of honor, Turvey was even taken aback, and couldn’t remember details of the occasions where he met with some of the women being linked to him.
While he declares that he and rumored former flame Pops Fernandez are still friends, Turvey admits that there is no one special in his life at the moment.
Here below are more revelations:
Q: Is it true that you and Pops Fernandez are business partners?
A: That’s new. No, that’s not true. I just do business with my manager Paolo Bustamante and another friend, Rengie Galvez. We established a restaurant last year called Petra in Greenhills. Unfortunately, we experienced problems. Things didn’t go well with one of our business partners so we decided to close it down after six months.
Q: Speaking of Pops, how is your love life right now? Anybody special?
A: Pops has said her piece and so have I. That’s an old issue. But just for the sake of talk, Pops and I are still good friends. No, I’m not involved with anyone right now.
Q: Why were there rumors linking you to Iza Calzado and even Maui Taylor?
A: I don’t know. I can’t even recall the last time I’ve seen Iza outside the set of "Encantadia." Iza Calzado and I are friends. I think she’s a fine actress, she and Dennis Trillo are the best actors I know in this country. I have no lovelife, if that should answer your question.
Q: How old are you now and how were you discovered? Are you still with Penshoppe?
A: I’m not with Penshoppe anymore. I think I’ve outgrown the teen image that their market requires. I’d rather not share my age. I was vacationing with friends in a beach here in the Philippines when someone approached me and offered me to give modelling a try. Acting offers came soon after my twin brother Greg followed me here.
Q: Is there any sibling rivalry between you and Greg?
A: No, there never was. Expecially now, that he’s out of showbiz and back in school in Australia.
Q: So, what keeps you busy right now?
A: I’m with GMA-7 and I’m content. Though there have been offers for me to guest in other channels, here and there, I’ve been a regular cast member enjoying fight scenes in "Encantadia" and also having fun with the games in "Nuts Entertainment." I also have an FM radio show on RX 93.1 called the "Morning Rush" which airs daily, Mondays through Saturdays, 6-9 a.m. But I only co-host with Chico and Delamar, Mondays and Wednesdays. I also host corporate shows sometimes. As for endorsements, I have Champion, Doc Martens, Oakley, and Blue Water Spa (w/c will open in two weeks on Annapolis, Greenhills). I’m also a member of GMA’s Circle of Seven who are representatives to create awareness about HIV and AIDS.
Q: What is a routine day with Brad Turvey?
A: Boring. (smiles) Sometimes I’m busy and sometimes I’m not doing much. When I’m free, I go to Anilao and go scuba diving there. I used to wave surf in Australia but I couldn’t find the time and the place here for that so I resorted to scuba diving. It’s fun and I’m currently taking my dive mastership. I’m also interested in martial arts. I had a liking for it since I was nine years old. I’ve never tried going to the gym. Martial arts is enough exercise for me.
Q: Have you been to Thailand? There were rumors that you worked as male escort there?
A: No, I’ve never been to Thailand. I haven’t worked there yet. I was born in Hong Kong where my mom hails from. I grew up in Australia where my dad comes from. I’ve been to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia when they got me as a VJ for Channel V. I don’t travel a lot though. Right now, I’m full time in the Philippines.
Q: Has your Tagalog improved? Your last film being "Pinay Pie," when are you following it up?
A: I studied Tagalog but I couldn’t continue because it was costly and I’ve been very busy. I understand Tagalog but I’m not fluent speaking the language. I welcome any role as long as it is good, interesting, and lots of fun. But I do have restrictions, same as in modelling. I’m very choosy when asked to pose sexy. It must be a requirement and done in good taste. I don’t see my career leading to the sexy genre. Not right now or anytime soon. I’m not comfortable baring my body. I’m fine wherever my career leads me. I’m concentrating with hosting right now. I was a co-host for "SOP" in the past. I also plan to establish a new business which deals with events.
