Maybe you can start something?" on Wed, Dec 31 2003, 23:03:28 We believe that the Miss World Contest is more geared towards our objectives, i.e promoting Portugal as the greatest tourist destination for all to see and visit. Miss World also allows for promotion of social activities within the country, for example, putting our titleholder as a person, and the organisation behind her, to work serving the country itself, as is the case with our "world of good" project, and they do participate in our activities and help get our messages out to the world. If you visit the Miss World site, you will see that, during her time in China, Miss Portugal World 2003 used the time allocated to her in her videodiary to ask for help for the Police and Firefighters of Portugal. This message WAS noticed by many potential donors from around the world and we have been flooded by inquiries as to how companies might be able to contribute to help our cause. We are proud of this, and other achievements of Miss Portugal World, because the Miss World Competition did allow her to send out a message from the country she represents while the other contestants used that time to reflect on their personal views of participation in the competition. Our objective is simple. We have one titleholder per year, and we want this titleholder to be a true representative of Portugal and for the world to see just how beautiful and unique Portuguese beauty, embodied in this one girl, and the entire country behind her, is. We hope you will agree with us. Portugal is a fantastic jewel, and finding the one girl that will show the true glitter of this jewel to the world is no easy task. I hope this message has helped in clarifying our objectives, and look forward to seeing everyone in Miss Portugal World 45.
