Subject: Mac and Gunny

In season 5 we are beginning to see Mac and Gunny's working relationship. What did you think about Mac and Gunny? I was really impressed by how they worked together and loved the episodes with both of them what did you think?
If the show had not ended the way that it did would you have watched a "jag san diego" type show with Mac and Gunny as the main characters?

[> I would have watched JAG SD because of Mac. It would have been even better if Gunny was more involved. If it warped into Vukovic as top dog I'd really have to think hard. TPTB had to make Mac seriously put the Vuk in his place before I might have been able to stomach him. -- Jubellant (Thanks for the FAV visuals Jagnut), 10:51:53 03/22/08 Sat

[> [> I think if Vukovic and his gang had been introduced right it wouldn't have been so bad. You know like NCIS which was shown over two hours to interest us. If Harm and Mac had gone on an investigation in the San Diego area and had worked with them for a couple of weeks, it wouldn't have been so bad. Vic might have been alright if we saw him seven months later, but unfortunately we saw too much of him and saw that he wasn't worth watching. If they had waited to show case him, it could have been done better. JAG-SD could have been a much different show than JAG. Of course having hound dogging after Mac like Mic was definitely a poor thought process. Very few like Mic with Mac. -- p, 18:11:52 03/23/08 Sun

[> They were a great team. I prefer a married Harm and Mac and then they introduced the younger Jag. -- Leda, 13:03:29 03/22/08 Sat

[> Like all things that Jag added in the last few years most of them were not needed -- p, 14:01:37 03/22/08 Sat

When they brought Gunny in, Bud should have left to be a Jag on ship or at another site. He needed to develope his own style. His main purpose in the beginning was to help in the investigations.

When Bud became a lawyer he was no longer needed in that capacity. Gunny had the potential to replace him. He showed promise. He had good investigated skills though he probably wasn't as computer savy as Bud.

Instead he became a pawn for comic relief with Jason. While they worked well together it was just wasted TV time.

JAG should have focused more on Harm and Mac instead of all the side garbage. Most of the supporting actor/actress were better when less was more.

They should have been seen and not heard for the most part.

Season 1 was like that, we hard;y ever saw the other characters.

We didn't see much of them in seasons 2-4 either.

Think Imes, Mattonie, Jason, Admiral. Less was more with them.

then in season 5 they brought in Mic, Renee, Singer etc and the show got too busy with garbage not wanted. They were a distraction.

Too many relationships that were not wanted instead of the only one that was.

JAG's original premise was best, Action adventure, investigations, and some thrilling courtroom drama.

[> They understood each other a little better than other people who worked with both of them. I don't know if it was the comraderie of the Marines and having that in common, but they seemed to never have to explain anything. They clicked. -- Theresa, 21:15:55 03/23/08 Sun

[> I loved Gunny! He was probably my favorite recurring character....It's a shame that the actor had his role eliminated due to "budgetary" issues because of contractual issues, its a shame he was let go. I think Gunny and Mac had a very healthy respect for the other. Mac being an officer treated Gunny more like an equal, & realized what a valuable resource he was. Gunny didn't treat Mac any different because she was a woman, he respected her & her abilities. My favorite eps are the ones in which Mac & Gunny worked together...Guilt, New Gun in Town. Gunny was great! -- Jennifer, 16:59:41 03/31/08 Mon
