Subject: I'm so sorry Jubellant, but I can't contribute anything from this ep! This ep really sticks in my craw, for there is no way Buxton should've been not convicted. Mac presents a solid case, but once again Harm does his little speech, gets Buxton off, then gets to be the "hero" in having Buxton grounded. It just really irked me, & made me realize that no matter what, Mac would never win, no matter what the case. So sorry, I don't have anything to offer! Just thought I'd post cause I do appreciate all your efforts, & I don't want you feel slighted cause again we do appreciate all that you do :)
In reply to: Jubellant 's message, "The episode we are voting on this week for Favourite Mac Visual and Favourite Mac Quote is 'Rules of Engagement'. This is the episode where Mac surprises Harm with her promotion and puts up quite a case to prosecute the Xman. As usual voting end Sunday at midnight EST!" on 07:14:49 03/10/08 Mon

[> [> Hi Jennifer, this one sticks in mine too an I know exactly how you feel! But, I did so love Mac nailing Buxton's six to the wall even if the fix was in! Glad to be appreciated, but don't feel slighted in the least. Everyone is free to put in their two cents or not, some may just have the time to read. The sentiment was kind though! Thanks! -- Jubellant, 06:52:30 03/13/08 Thu

The man was doing his job.

The Russian vehicles are no different from the Serbs. Why? Because they gave the Serbs their vehicles.

There is no reason why they should look alike except the Russians were too cheap to male more than one kind.

Second The flags of many European countries are very similar. They lack imagination.

Even if Buxton had gone for a look first before making a strifing run, there is no proof he would have been able to tell the difference.

It was a tragic accident caused by neglect on both sides. It's up to the Russians to make sure that they aren't mistaken for Serbs.

Unfortunately in war we don't always have time to debate the issues. You have to make a split decision that can cost you your life.

[> [> [> Sorry p have to disagree with you. If Buxton had followed protocol he would have learned that the Yugo's were in the area. Pilots have to have impeccable vision and he probably would have noticed the flag. By his own admission he was itching for a fight, boasted that they would see and stated they looked close enough. Even Harm said he did what he had to and declined to defend the guy further. Buxton's life was not in any danger and the Russians had let command know that they would be in the area. Many countries assist those who cannot afford their own equipment or things are bought 2nd hand. This could have all been avoided IMHO. -- Jubellant, 03:02:21 03/18/08 Tue

[> [> [> [> I am not disagreeing with you, I was only offering why Harm was able to win the case. It's easy to sit on the sidelines and judge. Realize that Mac is a very skill ligator. She got Buxton to admit to actions that may have or may not have been true. Yes he was itching for combat, but he thought he was operating properly -- p, 14:14:59 03/22/08 Sat

It still doesn't change the facts that the Russian and Serbian vehicles look too much alike. There should be more distinguishing markings.

A flag where the colors and style of the flags are the same isn't enough. Many people could look the same flags twenty feet away and would tell you that they are the same flags.

Less not forget that this episode demostrated the different styles of Harm and Mac. They are both very good but different.

Remember also Harm in the seasons 2-4 always won when it was in the best interest of the Navy for him to win.

In this case it was in the Navy's best interest that he won.

As was also shown the Navy has more than one way to remove unwanted personnel.

[> [> [> [> [> Harm was grasping at straws to appeal to the jury. Because of Buxton's zealousness for some action, he failed to take the steps necessary to avoid making a deadly mistake. Safeguards are there for a reason. Imagine being killed because you looked close enough to a suspect because you were the same height and had the same hair color. What Harm's argument did was put the whole thing in a context of what if rather than what it was. Buxton would not have been prosecuted for failing to act if he followed the protocol that was set up to safeguard mishaps like these. Buxton's close enough comment was enough for me not to give him the benefit of the doubt that his motives were altruistic. Interesting points p but we'll just have to disagree on this one. -- Jubellant, 17:10:50 03/22/08 Sat
