In reply to: HARDHEAD 's message, "Re: NEW STUD ON THE BLOCK" on 12:43:36 03/03/06 Fri

Since you didn't read it under informer's post then I will re-post it for to see it and why I respond to informer's post.

"if sarona dogs were so great why is it iron line kennels knows so much about them but doesnt use them?".

I can tell by the last two posts, mine and informer's post wasn't read very carefully to understand what was trying to be said.
If it was myself, I too would have been a little upset by informer's post in the manner in which it was posted.

But was informer wrong? HELL NO HE WASN'T WRONG!

Lets cut through the BS for a minute............

Should a 17 month old male be posted on the Internet as "New Stud on the Block"? HELL NO HE SHOULDN'T!

Damn, he is still a pup prospect. He is just at the age to just be getting started!!

I have never bred a male at 17 months old or place him at public stud!

I don't believe he is mentally of physically mature to be bred.
Specially tight bred as this male is.
No way is this male hormones ready mentally for him to be bred and physically, often dogs bred this tight, the semen isn't mature to be bred. The sperm tails aren't grown fully or correctly enough to be bred to have sound pups.

What ever happened to thought of placing dogs at stud after they are retired?
Proving the dogs first before they are placed at stud.
Ch. Iron Bear was 7 years old before I bred him for myself.
Ch. Iron Bobcat was 8 years old.
Now I'm not saying I haven't breed dogs younger then this but never under 2 years old because there is no way I could know for sure if the dog is worth breeding!
Each dog is different? Sure!
Ch. Dutchess dance four times before the age of 2 1/2. First dance at 13 months. No she wasn't ready but I didn't do it and had no control of the situation.

What I was referring to with JRB was, I sure he would like people to help prove the line first before they breed them and peddle off his many years of hard work.
I'm sure adding a little credibility would be nice.

Speaking for myself, I know I would too! But more often then not, to many people just take the dogs from other breeders and breed and make money off someone Else's many years of hard work and their name.

You said:

"FOR THE PUPS FROM MY LITTER FROM PASSION 2-3 WILL BE 4SALE.... 4-5 OF THE 7 ARE STAYING HERE OR GOING TO MY BUDDIES YARD....."

I never claimed to be a great breeder and I'm sure there are better breeders out there then me and you must be one of them because I never was able to sell some and keep some and think I kept the best out of the litter.
I can't tell which pups are going to be the best from a litter.
Unless the 2 or 3 you are going to sell are so bad you can tell now...
If that is the case, knock in them in the head instead of selling them...

Now this is all speculation. In these posts I haven't understood clearly who the sire of the pups you were selling.
I hope to hell it isn't this 17 month old male! Is it?

If it is, keep them all! No way should have this prospect been bred until be is FULLY tested and if he is worth a shit, he should be proven first! JMO.

If truth would be told, I'm sure JRB would just soon see you breeding a 1xw then a 17 month old prospect!

If he bails, this is why I said you needed to keep them all. You shouldn't expect others to clean up your mistake in breeding a young prospect.
You shouldn't have them spend their money and time raising a pup off a prospect that quit.
Until you know about the male, you shouldn't be releasing to the public!

Isn't this the same thing everyone said to FTJ?
Why is it any different for him?

Yes, I'm friends with JRB and I like what he has done and trying to do with his family of dogs but this doesn't change the fact of someone getting a prospect from him and breeding and peddling pups off his hard work!

Why is it that everyone who first gets into dogs has to breed them? What ever happened to campaigning them first?

To know what a true APBT is before trying to breed for traits and characteristics of which they have no idea of!

When we started with this line of dogs we have now, from the middle 60s to the early 80's we weren't releasing pups to the general public. For almost 20 years. We did place some older dogs at stud during this time but not pups.
Peddling wasn't of our interest at the time. We only bred for ourselves and we only had one interest for them and selling them wasn't it.

There is a lot to be said for just breeding for yourself.
I only would like to breed to replace brood matrons and maybe release to the public males from those breeding to the right people to help continue with credibility of the line.

If this wasn't the case, be like old Water K. and breed a litter and bucket all the females and the weak males and just raise or place or sell the strong males for proving the line.

People wonder why certain lines or strains are getting a bad rap, because people aren't proving them to the world first and everyone is just breeding off papers or someone Else's name and hard work!!

Damn, if anyone should know, I should!
I wish once or twice I could had someone do the amount of work and taken the time and put into the line what we have!!

To be bad laws are the way they are or I would really say what I really want too. But this is a public forum isn't the place to say to newbies what I want too...:(

Anyway, good luck and hope it all works out.....
