The year was 1978.
Spike was bred to Taffy and had a litter in July.
From this litter came Ch. Iron Bear, Ch. Iron Bobcat, Rock Candy 1xw and Bubba.

A month later in Aug. Maud had a litter off Spike.
At the time Bob Wise was fading from advertising the Red Devil/Corvino studs to the public. I believe his wife was very ill or had just died.

Jacob Wilder was still full swing breeding and peddling pups.
Anyone who had the bloodline and had any extra couldn't hardly give them away because Jake had the market all sowed up.

We had homes for most of all our pups. Many I kept like Sambo 2xw, Babe 1xw, Ike with Joe, etc.

Tom Mullins had bred Flame to Bill Weaver's dog Apache's Red Ty.

Tom couldn't give the pups away so that just what Tom was doing, GIVING THEM AWAY!
Tom came down to my brother's house and gave Dan Duster because Tom wanted to borrow some of our APBT books.

Dan called me and wanted me to take Duster to my yard. I told him I was full because Joe hadn't come by and pick up his pup yet.
Dan said bring Joe's pup over to his house and he would take Joe his pup. Dan and Joe grew up together. Joe became a famous HD mechanic for Perry's HD in Kalamazoo MI.

I put the pup on the chain and and took Duster.
A day later Tom showed back up and took the pup intended for Joe and left the books in Dan's other car.

When Dan got home he saw the pup was gone. Dan found his books in his other car.
Dan knew Tom had been there and by then I had came over to Dan's house.
Dan called Tom and talk to him.
Dan ask Tom if he knew the pup he took was the pup intended for Joe off Spike and Maud.

Tom said yes he knew and he figured since we had extras then we all would just considered it a trade.
Dan ask why he wanted a pup now after not being able to find homes for the pups.
Tom said he had one sold to a guy in OK. named Warren.

Dan asked Tom if the guy knew how the pup was bred.
Tom said, I told him it was off Flame.
Dan ask what he was going to do about papers for the pup and Tom said that a guy called him and told him his pup off Ty and Flame had died and Tom would apply for a duplicate set of papers and send Warren those.

This is why on the UKC papers of Wilder's Red Satan it has a -D at the end of the UKC number.

Joe ended up with another pup off Spike and Maud and named it Ike.

The rest as they say , is history.......
